Surface Creation

Reading: Kolerevic B. 2003. Architecture in the Digital Age

Kolerevic described three fundamental type of fabrication techniques in the reading. Outline the three techniques and discuss the potential of Computer Numeric Controlled fabrication with parametric modelling. (150 words max)

Computer Numeric controlled fabrication is useful to making models while doing design.

1,Additive is to build a shape into a layer , like three D printing. 2.Subtractive includes remove parts pf a whole structure, by the surfaceand cutting off. like laser cutting. 3.Formative includs that usingcomputer controlled machiery to put aterial in place.

Comment on the process of scripting and iterating your surfaces. Label your images here. Use white colour background in Rhino only. While I am making the surface I try to change the data in grasshopper,and I make 3 different surface group , I think the space between the two surface must be big enough for people using it and the surface of the pavillion must be safe so for my two surfacce , one of the surfacre is a plane surfacre, this surface can make people feel safety in it.

Comment on the process of creating a Laser Cut file for your model. what is the constrains and highlight what you have learnt. For the process of making the waffle and my two surface, I think it can be very easily to miss up the materials while making it , some one them may broken or missed ,after making this task , I know that w should write numbers in the back of our paper and when we unroll the surface in Rhino , I should not unroll each panel individual, I t makes more handmade work and this can be easily broken.

The size of panneling in my pattern has a change from the top to bottom ,the top of the pavillion need bigger openning for panels, because this big opening in the top can provide the whole pavillion enough and suitable light.

For my structure of waffle, it has a very huge activity space for people and I make a flat surface on one site , this flat surface can give people insde a sense of safety, and one distorted surface make the strucrture a sense of beauty.

Insert a brief description of your isometric here. Comment on the process of choosing which iteration to develop and 3D Print. What are some of the spacial qualities of your model? How does it address porosity and permeability? The qualities of my model of 3D printing, There are many holes in my model, so the opening of my work is more than one , influenceed by the last assignment , zumthor the pavillion has more than one threshold and provide people in the pavillion good sense of walk-ability, the openning are influenced by the porosity.

For making the boolean form I tried four different shapes of the boolean, the shape in the left of the top is the one I choosed boolean, becuase compare to the other one this one is ont too sharp when we cut it in rhino , and this shape provide a good structure in the paviliion and when I cut it in rhino , it can create a model with two big threshold , so I choose this shape if boolean.

To compare all the choices i=I made for task1 , I make a pavillion with two 2d surface and one with 2 3d surface, I at Last I choose the one with one 2d surface and one 3d surace,because this can provide good light for people inside and the openning in eah pannel the openning of 2d pannel and 3d pannel can flow the air, so the inside of the pavillion can have frsh air inside.

For making task 2, I consider about the pavillion as a nice place with good wallk-

ability, so I try to make the place with 2 big openning and good place with enough light come through the inside of the pavillin , so I use the shape of Boolean I used, and use
