Under Ratings Afrika: KwaDukuza (Stanger/Ballito) from 2007 to 2011 kept improving on their score with 75 in 2007 to 85 in 2011. This is the second year in a

KwaDukuza Municipality robbed in broad daylight By Xpress Reporter The KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) finance department was robbed, on a day that the staff was receiving awards at the KwaDukuza Town Hall on Wednesday, 26 June 2013. According to unofficial reports, the department was robbed by two individuals who got away with an alleged amount of approximately R174 000 between 10am to 1pm. Brigadier Derek Captain-Hastibeer who confirmed that KDM did report the matter to his unit. “Yes this report is true and the matter is under investigation at the Cluster office by my Detectives. “The reported value of the amounts taken in the robbery is an estimate pending a final audit by the municipality,” said the Cluster Commander. The Cluster Commander said that the investigation is ongoing and that his detectives are gone out on investigation.

Young political activists from various political formations enjoyed a stint of council work after being named KwaDukuza Councillors for a day as part of celebrating Youth Month. KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) Council, the highest decision making body of the Municipality, handed out the baton of political debates to budding politicians with an interest to encourage youngsters to have a say on issues affecting KwaDukuza communities. KDM Deputy Mayor, Councillor Dolly Govender together with Acting Municipal Manager, Mandla Manzini inaugurated 53 budding KwaDukuza leaders at Nkobongo Town Hall on Friday. Four aspiring politicians were sworn in as Parliamentarians for the day. All four members were elected from the majority party, the African National Congress.

Councillor Dolly Govender said the Youth Parliament was part of motivating the youth to share ideas and come up with practical solutions. “As a Municipality, we feel that this is another way of sharpening youth's leadership skills and a way of responding to unanswered questions and needs of the youth'' she said. The young councillors took turns to debate on various issues. Job creation, economic empowerment, health, education, drugs, women and children abuse were some of the issues placed on top of the agenda. Simphiwe Shangase (DA Caucus leader) was not happy with the speaker of the house and how he was treating the opposition parties. “The parliament was meant to address community issues instead it turned it into an ANC political rally that assisted the ANC 2014 election campaign,” said Shangase.

iLembe workers die in freak Blythe Mews residents still upset over ‘cesspool’ accident employee who died at the scene to By Xpress Reporter A work meeting involving six iLembe District Municipality (IDM) employees in Zinkwazi resulted in the tragic deaths of two on Wednesday, 26 June 2013. According to the iLembe communications officer, Zee Nqala, the accident took place in Zikwazi, and sadly one employee died instantly, and the other was later confirmed dead at the Alberlito Hospital. “The other four IDM employees who survived are critically injured with three currently receiving care at the Alberlito Hospital and the remaining person transferred to Umhlanga Hospital,” said Nqala. She added that the IDM Mayor, Councillor SW Mdabe rushed to the scene of the accident and ensured that the matter was 'handled with urgency and that everyone injured receive the best medical attention.' The iLembe Mayor together with IDM Deputy Mayor Dolly Shandu and IDM Speaker, Councillor T Msweli went to the family of the

They visited the family of the employee who was at Alberlito Hospital on Thursday, 27 June 2013. “I would like to express my greatest sympathy to the family members of our fallen colleagues. These were hard working IDM colleagues and I am saddened by their sudden passing. I will ensure that funeral arrangements have been made and also ensure that we have a memorial service in honor of these heroes,” said the Mayor. He also promised the families that he would help in 'every way possible' to assist them. Nqala said that iLembe Municipality is in the process of arranging counselling services for IDM employees who survived the tragic accident and for those who were the first to arrive at the scene. “The iLembe District Municipality (IDM), wishes to extend its heartfelt sympathy to the family members of two of its beloved colleagues who met an unfortunate tragic accident,” she said.

The article: “Blythedale residents unhappy with iLembe” (31 May 2013) garnered a follow up that revealed that the iLembe District Municipality (IDM) only acknowledged the (17 May 2013) anomaly on Thursday, 27 June 2013. Taking our cue from the hit romantic comedy movie: Blame it on Rio (1984) fame the IDM Municipal Manager, Mike Newton said: “We will pass this on to our bulk water service provider, Umgeni Water, for their attention.” On Monday, 1 July 2013 we contacted Umgeni Water's Pravesh Boodhoo, Area Manager North, who told us that iLembe did forward him the issue but said that “this is a water connection leak in the Blythedale reticulation and I will forward to IDM to effect repairs.”

disaster response team has been hard at work in assessing the incidents. Alarmed by these incidents, Mthembu called for the formation of the task team to campaign against it. The KwaDukuza's Disaster Management Unit had since teamed up with the Fire and Emergency Department. The team is working closely with the iLembe District Disaster Team, the SAPS and the Department of Corporate Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA).

Mthembu has said that the task team, through its campaign will make a lasting impact on the way people handle hazardous objects at their homes. “Through this campaign, we have adopted a practical approach in sensitizing communities by reaching out to them and showcasing various measures of prevention through demonstrations. These visits will have a lasting impression on how people deal with inflammable substances,” he said.

OMESH & NIRASHA SINGING SENSATION

You can’t do kindness without a reward. After I heard about Papa Moto from a friend I took his number and booked an appointment. He charged me R200 for the consultation. I was shocked when he touched on every bit of my problem. I could hardly believe what I was seeing with my own J.G eyes. To find out that my enemies were (Stanger Senior Citizen) part of my family and that they were the reason for me to be going out of my mind (mad). This revelation brought me the power of happiness knowing now who is good and who is bad for me

Thanks Papa Moto for the great help he offered me regarding him as a prophet sent by Gods

KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) Mayor, Councillor Ricardo Mthembu has honoured municipal retirees at the Staff Awards Launch at the KwaDukuza Town Hall on Wednesday, 26 April 2013. This was held in honour of retirees who have committed unbroken service to KwaDukuza Municipality. “As a progressive Municipality, it is essential that we recognize the relentless work and efforts demonstrated by these retirees and outgoing members of our municipality moving forward. This is our gesture of honouring their devotion to public service and their determined efforts to improve our municipality,” said Councillor Mthembu. KwaDukuza staff members are

now gunning for awards following the unveiling of 10 categories. The awards seek to deepen a culture of good work ethics, performance and excellence in the workforce. According to Mthembu, the awards will add meaning to the strategic imperative of the National Development Plan, develop and also promote a renewed cadre of local public service committed to service delivery. “I am happy that the award categories are designed in a way that they will encourage our employees to perform even better on various areas which will also have an impact on how service is delivered. It will also assist in making our workforce conscious of broader government plans,” he said.

Mega murti set for New Guelderland By Xpress Reporter

LANDMARK: The 1.8 metre high and 1.8 ton Mother Durga open air murti to be erected opposite Sanbonani Lodge in New Guelderland

Chix Bhai of Goldzone is back again, this time with a mega murti of Mother Durga which is planned for the community of New Guelderland. Bhai is known for the larger than life murti that he commissioned for and gave to the Glenhills community a little over two years ago. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) devotee said he commissioned construction of the 'open air' shrine last year in December by visiting Jaipur, India. Bhai cites the reason of spirituality, history and serenity for bringing the murti to this area. “The community and ex-community should be proud as this is part of their legacy,” he said. Bhai also said that the murti will satisfy

devotees, be a tourist attraction and keep traffic accidents at a minimum. The 1, 8 metre high Macrana marble statue (native to Rajasthan) with a mass of 1 800 kg featuring the Hindu goddess, Mother Durga with her tiger carrier, will be erected opposite the Sanbonani Lodge in New Guelderland. The statue (murti) will be accompanied by a special aluminium and glass canopy bedecked with rich colour and expert craftsmanship courtesy of the “Bharthiya Marble Kendra Jaipur” company. A special five dome configuration is also planned with an accompanying Shivalingum. Bhai wanted to thank Dees from M3 Carriers and other benefactors for their support in helping bring the murti to KwaDukuza. Plans are underway to celebrate the momentous occasion and the community will find out via this publication when that is.

Wrong target A Maphumulo Taxi Driver who tried to prevent a passenger from an attack has paid a hefty price for his intervention. Humphrey Ngcobo alleges that when passengers alighted from his vehicle at Doringkop, two youths attacked one passenger. When he intervened, one of the youths drew a knife and he fled. On his return to the abandoned vehicle, he noticed his vehicle had been removed and was being driven by one of the attackers. On seeing Ngcobo, the youth reversed into a house, causing serious damage to the rear of the minibus. Armstrong Ntombela (38) has been charged with several offences and is due back at court on 5 August. A family thing Happy Dube is one unhappy learner. He alleges that he and his sister were speaking to their grandfather when they were approached by their elder brother who does not get along with the rest of the family. He accused them of gossiping about him and emptied all the contents of the fridge onto the floor. He then launched an attack on the two younger siblings causing injuries to both with a bottle. Bonga Dube (23) is expected back at court

on 13 August. Same difference When Sibusiso Buthelezi saw his brother under attack by two youths, he went to help. As he arrived at the scene, his brother took his chances and fled. Angered by the escape of their victim the two turned on Buthelezi and began hitting him with sticks. He received multiple bruising and scratches for his bravery. Police only managed to arrest one culprit, Blessing Hleza (24) who is expected to appear in court on 16 August 2013. Wasted talent A talented 17-year-old lass with a troubled background has had her first brush with the law. The young girl with Natal colours for volleyball was spotted by Checkers Security removing chocolates and perfumes from the shelving. She tucked the two chocolates in her socks and replaced he deodorants on a shelf. As she left the store, the officer, Sithembiso Buthelezi arrested her. The girl was given an opportunity to mend her wayward behaviour when social workers intervened and placed her into a diversion programme. However, should she be back, she will not likely be treated in this manner again.

Fair game Desperate criminals intent on making a few rands will steal anything of value whether they know the value or not. Last week, Sibisiso Gumede spotted a man in the premises of a building under construction. The man had in his possession square iron tubing and an electrical box. Despite being spotted he was not prepared to leave his valuable ill-gotten gains behind and this led to his arrest. Moses Ntuli (36) is expected back in court on 14 August. Running out of space Yet another notorious Sunny Park resident has felt the might of the law last week. Police allege they were at the taxi rank at about 8:20am when they spotted Devadsen Govender (49), popularly known as “Lolly”, exit the rank in his bakkie. He raced off when they tried to stop him and eventually trapped him on the outskirts of the CBD. They found a straw of whoonga and a small parcel of dagga in his possession. Govender has been identified by residents as a dealer and he disposed of more drugs during his flight. He us due back at court on 30 August.

TESTIMONIAL TIME

SHE SHOWED ME MY PROBLEMS IN A MIRROR

I Mrs Sarah from Richards Bay. I lost my husband last year in June. He left me with two kids fortunately we had built a house and had a small business, but my in-laws turned against me and they wanted to take the house away from me because I was not officially married to him. I became so worried about my children because the business was not doing so well. Life became so difficult and the insurance had also delayed to release the money belonging to my late husband, but as I read Mama a healer in one of the local news paper, she helped me so much, my in-laws changed and became so friendly, the insurance released the money and also my business started doing well. Mama can also help you in the following problems with love, marriage, financial matters, divorce, pregnancy difficulties etc

I thought Mr Jean and Shivaan were lying and I confessed to MAMA SHANIA after meeting him. I had alot of doubts but it is true, he is the best healer in the shortest period of time. He gave me STAMINA oil to apply to my palm with a magic ring and within an hour I had luck as last with casino, horses and gambling. I made a choice and won R5.5 million!! All my accounts are paid up and I have investments now. My aunt Vanessa (57 Years) is happy after I took her to Mama Shania, Her husband is back after 16 years. Mrs Naidoo (47 years) Thank God for showing me this man.

It was in 2012 when my life was not good, all my children were always getting sick day after day. Demons were making noises in my house and my bosses were not happy with me and yet I was working very hard. I was forced to go for help although I did not believe in healers. Sheik Feeyaaz wrote me some arabic words on the paper and also gave me a stick and said “call me when you’re fine” I used them as he said but just after two days my bosses just promoted me and increased my salary and as I am talking now my children are fine and all the demons ran away from m house. There is nothing I can tell all of you apart from rushing for help from Sheik Feyaaz. Runesh, Newtown, Stanger. There used to be rumours from people saying that no one can win lotto and casino by the help of the magic stick. One Sunday I was not busy at all then decided to go and prove to myself. I called Sheik Feyaaz and he told me to go and see him on the spot because he was not occupied. He gave me the Magic Stick and said that I must play when it is in my pocket. I won some R25000 for the first time, and then I asked him I can play lotto also. He told me go back and said that I must write down 21 numbers sets from my heart, he consulted his spirits and came up with the final numbers. I played lotto and I magically won R3.4 million and now I am a big business man with a very beautiful life. Long live Sheik Feeyaaz the man who brightened my future. Abdul - Noor, Stanger Heights. Sheik Feeyaaz works Monday to Sunday at his own house. Do not call your problem a heavy one because Sheik Feeyaaz’s spirits see it as a walk over

A few days back, Naicker testified about the wonderful Maama Salmah not to just sit but also tell the whole world about her. I was referred to her by a friend called Andria who booked an appointment. He charged me R100 to read my fortune. He told me my names and showed me almost everything going on in my life LIVE IN THE MIRROR. I was showed that my business had fallen and my wife had left for another man in German for 12 years. Maama Salmah cast a spell for me & later made arrangements & she came back. We are so happy together now and my business grew after I was helped by Maama Salmah. She is accurate, down to earth & a honest person to deal with. I had tried many but none could help and I must say Maama Salmah the grace of God. Maama Salmah who assisted my husband after 18 years, whose penis wasn’t working with a small size, poor erection, one minute ejaculations and not strong. She discovered a lot of witchcraft and cleansed him in 30 minutes and with in 2 hours the penis was perfectly enlarged and up to now there is no change it is permanent. I Sandile from Matatiele now based in phoenix recommended Maama Salmah as nice, safe and saves money with time. “ I still believe Maama Salmah is the only one who assisted my wife Lorah to decrease her breasts and increase her hips and bums in the last 4 years ” Kingsley S. He takes a sip of his ice-cold beer and mutters, “I don't know what that woman's talking about. The fridge works fine." “Wanna hear a dirty joke? Ok. The boy fell in the mud. Ready for a clean joke? Yeah. He took a bath.” What would happen if you ate yeast and polish? You would rise and shine.” “How does a cow add and subtract? With a cowculator.”

Gift Shop w a s introduced t o KwaDukuza in 1983 by Mr and Mrs Omarjee. According to their son, Ahmed, the couple began their business by selling gifts, toys and novelties to the community. As the years passed, the store, as well as their range of products, expanded. Now, three decades later, Gift Shop is known as a 'one-stop-shop' that specializes not only in gifts and toys, but a wide range of accessories, stationery, and fireworks. “We are grateful to customers for supporting us over the years. It is due to their support that we were able to grow,” said Ahmed.

Gledhow have set their sights on the 3rd darts league

After playing second fiddle to Darnall Action Sporting I and Neville's Auto I in the last two leagues, Gledhow have set their sights on the Trophies Engravers league after defeating their compatriots Gledhow United at the Action Sports Bar Darnall last night in a tight fought darts league game hosted by Dolphin Coast Darts Union last Wednesday. Gledhow made their intentions clear after victory in the opening team event (1001).United were not going to take it lying down as they stormed into contention by winning the second team event to level the scores at 1-1. Gledhow regained the lead when they took the trebles (801) but once again United bounced back to level matters 2-2 winning the next trebles. Darrel Shanmagum and Neeran Somnath then paired

up to restore Gledhow's lead after defeating the duo of Charlie Pillay and Justin Naidoo in the first doubles game (701) only to see the lead once again chased by Yogan Pillay and Jodie Naidoo who defeated Terrence Pillay and Rajesh Parasaramen to come on par at 3-3. Woody Naidoo and veteran Vigen Murugan once again put Gledhow in front (4-3) with a classical victory over Balu Pillay and Terrence Subban. It was the single games (501) that separated the men from the boys. Shanmagum and Somnath made no mistake in disposing of Charlie and Justin to extend Gledhow's lead to 63. Yogan Pillay brought United back into the game with a clinical win over Terrence Pillay but Rajesh Parasaramen and Woody Naidoo ensured Gledhow's victory by

defeating Jodie Pillay and Balu Pillay respectively before Terrence Subban salvaged a last grasp effort by beating Vigen Murugan allowing Gledhow to win the game 8-5. Darnall Action Sporting I kept their title hopes alive when they raced to a 5-0 lead before trouncing Darnall Action Sporting II 11-2 in a one-sided derby encounter whilst reigning champs Neville's Auto I humiliated their counterparts Neville's Auto II with an 11-0 drubbing. They have only themselves to blame dropping two points because of fielding a player short. To n i g h t ( We d n e s d a y ) , Neville's Auto I will take on Gledhow with Darnall action Sporting I hosting Gledhow United and Neville's Auto II play Darnall Action Sporting II.

KWADUKUZA Youth Month games ended with a bang as the 2013 ward champions were named after an aggressive scrambled for victory in a tournament that attracted the attention of scores with its youthful razzmatazz on Saturday. All 27 KwaDukuza's wards lined the protracted race to the championship since the beginning of June as part of commemorating youth month. The long awaited finale kick-off at the weekend at Stanger High Sports Grounds were the ambiance of music, dance and sports played centre stage. The clash of the finalists follows a chain of games that were hosted in more than eight venues in the build up to the finals. The wards were grouped into eight clusters, with each ward competing with at least 6 wards. While the games where made up of various sports codes, the soccer champions rose to prominence, with ward 21 girls and ward 8 boys taking the first price home to Driefontein and Nkobongo respectively. Nkobongo boys claimed remarkable victory in their game against Ntshawini, ward 15. Ladies' soccer champions, Driefontein also rose to prominance following their 5-4 victory in the penalty shoot-outs against Darnall, ward 2 girls. Ward 8, Nkobongo boy's ended the month long tournament with a bang by thrashing ward 15 boys with an epic, 50.

The annual tournament forms part of a resolution that was adopted at Council in paying tribute to the youth of 1976. The tournament is made up of various sporting codes including soccer, netball, basketball and volleyball. The KwaDukuza municipality is also contemplating another tournament, the inter-wards league tournament that could get even more people in sports. Officials have said that the league will get anyone with a valid South African ID in sports as part of the campaign to mobilize youth without ID's to apply and register to vote. The ID and voter registration campaign has become a main feature in the Youth Month games as the Youth Affairs sub-committee continued to rally behind the campaign. In the run up to the 2014 general elections, the KwaDukuza Youth Affairs sub-committee has reiterated its conviction that it will continue to campaign strongly behind the ID and voter registration. The committee has made numerous appeals to the youth to apply and register to vote. Its Chairperson, Sthembiso Magubane says the campaign will continue until the elections, this after vowing to place the campaign high on its agenda to get prospective voters on the roll. 'We are putting a strong focus on 'Mandela Children', individuals who were born into democracy as they will be voting for the first time." he says.

The game started evenly poised until Damien 'Shrek' Peters and Cameron Singh piled on the pressure, easily beating the defence of Randsons to give KSST a 13-6 advantage. The final seemed to be going one sided with Randsons all at bay. Their backline play was despicable with pick-ups going everywhere but to the setter. However, Ben and Sandhir 'Tin Boy' Jugmohan came alive with some thunderous attacks of their own to allow Randsons to

Randsons, and more especially Jugmohan, seemed to come alive in the second set as they matched KSST point for point with the lead changing hands on numerous occasions. KSST introduced Leon 'Haircut' Moonsamy into their armoury which showed immediate impact. The game was even until 13-13 when KSST turned on the heat with the attacks from Singh and Peters allowing KSST to lead at 19-13. Randsons tried desperately to corner their opponents but KSST held too many guns and went on to win the set 25-20 and claim the cup 2-0. Grove End ensured a podium finish with victory over Sunbrook in the 3rd/4th play offs. In the post match presentation, vice president of SDVA, Kruba Jairam said that the final was the culmination of 3 weeks of entertaining volleyball. She said that Ralph held a special place in the hearts and minds of everyone and every team vied for the honours of holding the coveted Ralph Reuben Memorial Cup. The competition, now in its 4th ran smoothly and she thanked the Rueben family for having opened up the tournament to both the social and competitive league teams and that there were tense moments in the build up to the final. Trophies were awarded to the first three teams with KSST receiving an outright trophy as well as the floating trophy.

RAMADAAN A Month of Countless Blessings

Laylatul Qadr Crowning Glory Laylatul Qadr is the crowning glory of the holy month of Ramadhaan. It is associated with the sending down of the Holy Book, the last Book of of our Creator on His last Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), for the guidance of mankind. The Holy Book describes this Night. “We have indeed revealed this (message) in the Night of Power: And what will explain to you what the Night of Power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down the Angels and the Spirit (Jibraeel) by Almighty's permission, on every errand: Peace! This until the rise of Morn!” (Surah 97) The Night of Power is the night of spiritual bliss. Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have said concerning Ramadhaan: “Verily this month has come to you; and therein is a night which is better than a

thousand Months. Whosoever is deprived of it, is deprived of all good; and none is deprived of its good except a totally unfortunate person”. (Ibn Majah) “Whosoever stands up (in prayer) at the Night of Power out of faith and hopeful of reward, all his past sins will be forgiven.”(Targhib) Better than a thousand months A thousand months are equivalent to 83 years and 4 months. Fortunate is the person who spends this night in prayer. The man or woman, who prays for the whole night during this Night, will deserve blessings and reward for the period as if he or she had been praying for eighty three years and four months consecutively. Since the Night of Power is better than one thousand months no one can actually measure the extent as to how much better it is.

BBBEE LEVEL ONE

Wishing all our muslim customers well over Ramadaan Exclusive The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Laylatul Qadr has been bestowed by the Almighty to my Ummah (People). It was not given to any people before this.” (DurMansoor). How manifest and replete the special bounties and mercies of the Almighty are upon this Ummat is quite really beyond imagination. It will therefore be extremely foolish to allow ourselves to be deprived of these great blessings at the expense of sheer laziness and a few hours of extra sleep. Which Night is it? Although there are different reports in different traditions regarding the exact night, it is almost unanimous that the blessed night occurs in one of the last ten nights of Ramadhaan and more probably in one of the last ten odd nights i.e. 2lst, 23rd, 25th 27th or 29th night. The popular opinion is, however, in favour of the 27th Night of Ramadhaan but that is not absolutely certain. The traditions indicate that it is to be sought in one of the last ten nights and preferably in the last three odd nights. It was therefore the practice of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his companions to make I'tikaaf in the Mosque for the whole time offering Divine

Cantoni

service during the last ten days of Ramadhaan. Hazrath Aisha (RA) reported that the Apostle of God Almighty said: “Search for the Blessed Night in the odd (nights) from the last ten (nights) of Ramadhaan”(Bukhari). Hazrath Aisha has narrated another saying: “I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me if I were to find a Night of Power, what should I recite therein?”The Holy Prophet (PBUH) advised her to recite: O Allah! You are Forgiving, You love forgiveness, so forgive me. (Bukhari). Special attention should therefore be given to the excessive recitation of this dua on the blessed night. Furthermore one may engage in lengthy rakaats of Tahajjudsalaat, Tilaawat of the Qur'an, Dua, Zikr, etc. The worship and the vigil of the Night of Power are a treat to the soul. The heart tends to melt into tears of heartfelt gratitude. The body is in a state of angelic ecstasy The soul strives to reach nearer to our Creator. In this holy month of Ramadhaan let us strive to seek the Night of Power and its bliss. May the Almighty reward us with His bountiful blessings. Aameen. Source: JamiatulUlama
