Pyschrometric diagram

The pyschrometric diagram shows the overall air humidity is low, and the air of Hilbre Island is dry in other words. The most frequency of wind directions are from W, WSW, SW and SSW because of the sea. On the contrary, the winds from N, E and S are much smaller, among them frequency of WE wind direction is the lowest. The sun path diagram shows that the directions of WSW, SW, SSW, S, SSE, SE, ESE of the island have the longest natural sunlight time. However, although NW WNW, W, E, EWE and NE can also enjoy the sunshine, the numbers of hours of sunshine per day are fewer.

Case Study

In this project Ando combined shells and concrete, forming a kind of unique texture and material. Meanwhile, hilbre island itself provides various shells, such as oysters and bivalve shells. After the birds eat the oysters and bivalves, the empty shells can be recycled. This idea was used to design the walls of ‘seafood café and restaurant’ .

Awaji-Yumebutai Tadao Ando

Case Study

This project perfectly blends into the surroundings (sea and rocks). It is a typical example of his careful reconciliation between nature and his design. This project is just like ‘growing up’ from the island naturally.

Case Study

Colourful light and white walls make the space very suitable to be meditative and reflective, which finally evokes its users’ emotion very successfully. This idea is used in Room3 Autumn design.

Furthermore, four rooms correspond to four seasons, and every room has its unique temperature as well. Meanwhile, five senses are brought into every therapy room successfully. According to the research, strong light and loud noise will make PTSD patients feel nervous, causing a series of aggressive behaviours. On the contrary, a relatively quiet, soft light, cosy interior environment and good natural external environment will make the therapy work more successfully.

The purpose of age regression is to reframe the negative feeling and perceptions of the past to facilitate towards the patient‘s goals. There are four different rooms in recovery centre which respectively represent four stages of life.

Physical Conceptual Model

‘CREVICE ’- the word means ’a small, narrow crack or space’ (Cambridge Dictionary), but it can also be used as an ’opportunity’.

Light Change

My definition of the word is the ‘Light Gap’ , bring a sense of hope and a new meaning of life to users.
