Gov. Abubakar acknowledging cheers
This policy direction, he explained, is anchored on special attention to the following strategic areas: security, Agriculture and Rural Development, Improved Infrastructure, Education, Science and Technology, Health and Social welfare, women and youth empowerment through the implementation of a skill acquisition programme. Abubakar Yari who said that the greatest injustice that can be done to the future of the youths of Zamfara origin is to ignore the imperatives of good education frowned at the current situation where only a small number of children of the rich and powerful have access to quality education while the majority are idle making them a veritable tool for causing mayhem and destruction.
“We are determined to return every child to school and guarantee their future through adequate funding of the education. The payment of scholarship will be restored along with payments for WAEC/NECO examination fees,” he assured. The new Governor who also said that appointments into his cabinet and other public offices in the State will not be hinged on any political inclination, noted that only people who are competent, honest, diligent and upright in character and who will not see the public office as an avenue for fleecing the State treasury at the expense of the populace, will be called to serve in his Government. “Now is the time to transcend the boundaries of politics as we embark on governance. May I reiterate that our people must not only see but feel the
dividends of our nascent democracy; we need your support and prayers. In-shaAllah, together, we shall succeed,” he said. The posh swearing-in ceremony, aside from the outgoing Governor and his Deputy, was also witnessed by Distinguished senators and Honourable Members of the House of Assembly, Honourable members of the House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of the State, the Honourable Grand Kadi, and the executive members of the ANPP, both National and State. Others are the outgoing Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Service, the Commissioner of Police, the Commanding Officer, 1 Base Ammunition Depot, Gusau, Permanent Secretaries, Head of Extra Ministerial Departments and a host of other invited guests.
