MON 17 –  WED 19 SEPTEMBER ‘Hollyenders Street’ has been on air for fifteen years, and viewing figures are the worst they’ve ever been. So a new, hard-nosed producer is brought in to mix things up and save the show. Characters are cut, stories are sexed up and new blood is brought in. Even the theme tune is re-written! Before long, the cast are at war, the writers are on strike and everyone ends up unhappy. And then, somebody snaps. Blood is spilled and a body is discovered. The detective in charge of the investigation, who is a life-long fan of the show, arrives to solve the case. Will the show be saved? Will the murderer be found? Will Detective Emmerside get a full set of autographs? The answer to all these questions and more is…probably.

‘Frisby’s writing is sharp, and the court room interchanges positively crackle’ MON 24 – SAT 29 SEPTEMBER

Sunday Express

ROUGH JUSTICE TOM CONTI STARS IN

BY TERENCE FRISBY

The author of the triumphant comedy, There’s a Girl in My Soup, brings us a very different treat - a murder story, a courtroom drama, a suspenseful thriller. Television journalist James Highwood has made his career out of challenging the British Justice system in his documentary programmes. Now, suddenly, it is Highwood himself who is challenged when he is brought to court on a charge of murder. Highwood admits the killing but perversely chooses to defend himself, pushing the tolerance of the court to its limits and framing his defence in terms calculated to incense the judge. Tom Conti is brilliantly suited to the part of Highwood in this gripping courtroom drama, with more than its share of surprising twists and turns. Tom Conti won an Olivier Award in the West End and a Tony Award on Broadway for his performance in Whose Life is It Anyway? and was nominated for an Oscar as Best Actor for his role in Reuben Reuben. He and Dame Judi Dench were recently voted the Most Popular Actors in the West End in the last 25 years.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING

GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL

Since October 2010 HQ Theatres, alongside its sister company Qdos Entertainment, has been raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Theatres for Theatres Appeal. To date we have raised £251,000 for the appeal which aims to build new state-of-the-art operating theatres at the hospital, which treats very sick children from across the UK. This money has been raised through the generosity of our audiences and the staff of the Wyvern Theatre who have taken part in various fund-raising events and activities. We will continue to support the Theatres for Theatres Appeal and your ongoing support is greatly appreciated. THE MOST TERRIFYING LIVE THEATRE EXPERIENCE IN THE WORLD! EVERYBODY IN THE THEATRE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM!

Adapted by Stephen Mallatratt From the novel by Susan Hill Now a major motion picture starring Daniel Radcliffe MON 7 – SAT 12 JANUARY 2013 Unanimously acclaimed by the critics, Stephen Mallatratt’s stage adaptation of Susan Hill’s bestselling novel combines the power and intensity of live theatre with a cinematic quality inspired by the world of film noir. It is a formula that provides audiences with an evening of unremitting drama as they are transported into a terrifying and ghostly world. A lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a ‘Woman in Black’, engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It all begins innocently enough, but as they reach further into his darkest memories the borders between make believe and reality begin to blur and the flesh begins to creep... Now celebrating its 23rd year in the West End, over seven million people have lived to tell the tale of one of the most chilling and successful theatre events ever staged.
