4th—Cub Water Day Green Withens If you have seen the press recently, you can't but help notice the wonderful scenes 11th—Monopoly Run at Windsor last weekend when the world's media came to Scouting ! With 18 of our Queen's Scout Award recipients on parade and a large number of our St 18th—19th—Scout Water Day Green George's Day Award holders also present, it was a very proud day for those inWithens volved in Scouting here in West Yorkshire. Prior to Windsor, it was a real privilege to present the awards at our County Awards Dinner on the 6th April - a wonderful opportunity to find out more about the talent and 3rd-9th—Scouts Community Week commitment of both our young people and 8th—Celebration & Awards Ceremoour adult volunteers. The evening was a ny great success and my thanks to all those who 22nd– 23rd—Bullys BIG Bash were involved in the organising of the event. It's a great event - just right to celebrate the achievement of our young people here in our County. So, if you have young people in your group who have received eligible awards this year, don't miss out on the opportunity to include them in the celebrations. It's a great way to celebrate their talent and their success. With about eight weeks to go, don't forget about Bully's BIG Bash on the 22nd/23rd June this year at the Odsal Stadium, Bradford - a chance for our Scouting family to come together and have a weekend full of activities, support Simon on the Streets with our BIG Sleepout and be involved in our half-time showcase of Scouting to the crowd at the Odsal Stadium during the Bradford Bulls and Widnes match. It promises to be a fantastic weekend for all those involved - something different for us all ! Thank you also to all those involved in our local St George's Day parades recently. In particular, a thank you to all those volunteers behind the scenes (marshalling parades, preparing churches and programmes, preparing tea and coffee, etc) who work so hard to "make it happen !" and give the rest of us a chance to promote Scouting on the day. Without your efforts, it just could not happen. And finally, Good Luck to the Keighley Scout Service Team and all those involved in the Fellsman Race this forthcoming weekend - a great event and a Bradley Wood 14 /15th September 2013 - Cost great way to promote Scouting to the gen£15 per cub. Any cub who has earned their silver award during September 2012 to July 2013 can attend to eral public. Colne Valley Mountain Bike Challenge Sunday 12th May 2013 – starting @ 9:00a.m (Registration from 8.00am) From Leymoor Cricket Club, Parkwood Road, Golcar HD7 4QW. This event is a tough mountain bike ride and the course consists of approximately 30 miles combined between demanding off-road terrain and local roads and lanes, through “Last of the Summer Wine” & “Where the Heart Is” country. Sunday 12th May 2013 Green Withens is holding an Open Day for Leaders, supporters and their families on Sunday 12th May, starting at 10.00am and finishing about 4.00pm. Come and find out more about us and what activities and courses we have available. Why not bring a team from your Group or District and join in our Bellboat challenge. Teams of ten including at least four children.

There will be no charge for the event (although donations to our development fund are always welcome)

~~~~~~~ The Agoonoree special needs camp will be held at Raywell Park 3rd to 10th August. We are always open to members of the scout association with special needs and offer them a chance to experience a summer camp. As such we are always looking for new helpers from aged 14 upwards to assist in the running of the patrols and offer care where needed. this camp is extremely useful to complete either the residential or service section of any of the scouting awards or DoE.
