Wyoming State Historical Society Offering Grants Need financial assistance to help finalize your history project? The Wyoming State Historical Society, a non-profit membership driven educational organization, offers cash grants to people involved in research activities based on various aspects of the state’s history. The grants, ranging from $100 up to $1,500 are awarded based on applications submitted to the Society’s Lola Homsher Endowment Fund Committee. The deadline is February 28 with applicants notified of the results in the spring. All applications must be submitted electronically via the Society’s website at www.wyshs.org. The committee reviews all proposals and makes awards after the selection process has been completed, usually in the spring. Preference is given to proposals that promise original research on topics related to Wyoming history. Wyoming residents are also given preference, but all applications are welcome. Enhanced Training Effort for Peer Specialists
Beacon Hill Church, 3411 Cleveland Avenue, is having a craft fair with The Coffee Cove, on Saturday, March 6, at 10am-2pm. There will be over 25 vendors and childcare will be available for shoppers for 30 minutes max.
A collaboration between local non-profit Recover Wyoming, the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Grace for 2 Brothers, and Gateway Foundation will result in an enhanced training effort for Peer Specialists in Wyoming. The Wyoming Peer Specialist Training prepares individuals who have personally lived-experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges, and who are now in longterm recovery from those challenges, to help others achieve long-term recovery. The Wyoming Peer Specialist Trainings will be held intermittently over the next two years. New Wyoming State Museum Exhibit The Wyoming State Museum announces the opening of its newest exhibit “The Newell Collection.” The exhibit showcases western folk art by Earl Newell of Sheridan, Wyoming. Newell created the wood carvings and building in the 1930’s. The collection reflects his love of the “Old West,” and includes cowboys, horses, cattle, chuckwagons, stagecoaches, and more. The All-City Children’s Chorus Auditions The All-City Children’s Chorus will be starting a Third Grade Choir this season.
