t he track route

I f you begin at ST ART and follow the track around the game board until you reach HOME, you'll discover that the track route is a distinctive and unique approach to creating the track route. I n other words, I could have created a track route in the form of a square, circle, triangle, rectangle or some other custom track route. But the track that you are seeing now is a result of play testing and a determination to give all players an awesome and fun game play experience. As you can see, my track route takes up as much space as possible around the game board so as to fulfill two efforts: length and challenge. First, the length. I wanted to create a track route that was not too long or short but a length that would provide players with a reasonable playtime experience; I believe I have accomplished my goal. T he length of the track route invites players to play Backtrack with one or two dice. T he one dice gives players approximately 50 minutes of game play while two dice provides approximately 20 minutes of game play. From Start to Home the track route challenges players to make a decision that will send their opponents backtracking to the beginning of the game while the player moves forward in an effort to be the first to reach Home. Second, the challenge. I f you look on the track you'll see several elements that are considered obstacles which hinder players from reaching Home. I f you land on a number you must backtrack unless you have a Pass card available to use. W henever a player lands on any one of the four colors a card is drawn by the opponent which owns that particular color but if the player owns that color he or she lands on they win another turn. T he four X's that I strategically placed on the game board covers the four directions: north, east, south and west. Ultimately, the track route sets players up to experience a challenging game play experience with family and friends. Once you have an opportunity to get your hands on Backtrack you too will discover that Backtrack is addictive, challenging and fun!

I wanted to distinguish myself from the industry standard of board game creation and design by creating and designing a game board that was fun and challenging to move around on but at the same time I also wanted players to be able to admire similarities and distinctions in the artwork presentation. W hile laying out the obstacles along the track I made sure that the obstacles weren't too close and not too many! But no board game is playable and fun without adding neutral spaces . I f you glance over to the left side of this writing you'll notice the three pattern filled shapes. T hese pattern filled shapes are neutral spaces spread out sporadically throughout the Backtrack game board. I n every part of creating and designing Backtrack I kept the words distinctive and unique in mind because I wanted to do things different than the industry standard. But I knew that there would be some similarities. I n regard to the neutral spaces I did not want to fill the shapes with the usual plain white spaces; I knew I could do something different. I f you take a closer look at the three spaces you'll notice that I decided to fill in these shapes with distinctive and unique patterns. I f you were to compare each neutral space throughout the game board you'll notice that not one pattern is the same! T he plain white spaces work for other tabletop board games but not for Backtrack. T he patterns within the shapes keeps consistent with my desire to be distinctive and unique when it comes to board creation and design. I hope that when you are able to get your hands on a copy of Backtrack, you will appreciate how the game plays and the overall artwork presentation.

t he color schem e

I named my company Create Your Own T abletop Board Game because I wanted players and board game creators and designers to notice the word "own" in the name of my company. Even though some similarities cannot be avoided when it comes to board game creation and design, I am always determined to create and design my "own" way! I am in no way, shape or form a professional artist but I understood when creating Backtrack that my manufacturer was working with skilled and professional artists and designers. I n other words, I did not need a degree in art and design since my manufacturer had everything covered; I simply told them what and how I wanted the art, colors and overall design to look. T his leads me to the color scheme. I f you take a look at the number "33" to your left you'll notice that the number is not a solid color. Of course I could have chosen to use a solid yellow or blue color but once again, I wanted to do something different so that potential buyers and players can always identify a Create Your Own T abletop Board Game board game. As you can see the number 33 is a yellow shade at the top of the number and as you continue looking downward the yellow eventually changes into a blue shade. I think that if only the numbers on the game board shared this color scheme, the overall look wouldn't be as effective as it could be. But if you have had an opportunity to look at my game board you would have noticed that the entire color scheme is consistent across the game board since each element shares the same look. 11

t he cust om log o

I have complete faith in my ability to create and design board games that have a great overall design but without awesome game play none of the design matters. Game play and design must complement each other. And I believe Backtrack does this exceptionally. My goal for every board game that I create and design is to make sure that the look, how the board games play and simple to understand rules is my first and foremost effort. As you consider the above title I have created my own custom logo that officially certifies that my Backtrack tabletop board game and games to come are addictive, challenging and fun. I f you take a look at the image on the left you'll see that this logo is located on my box bottom at the bottom on the left side. Obviously ACF is an acronym for addictive, challenging, fun. No one board game is an official copy unless you see my ACF certification logo on the bottom left of the bottom box. I created my ACF certification logo because I wanted to challenge myself to meet certain standards and create quality tabletop board games. But the reason why I specifically chose the ACF acronym is simple; I wanted every board game player and potential customers to know that my board games are definitely worth the purchase and game time. I believe that my board games will not do well if I depend on design and artwork alone. I f I want players to pass the word on about my board games as well as possess a desire to play them again and again, I must be true to my ACF certification logo and make sure that every board game is addictive, challenging and fun!

t he r hym ing exp ression

W hile I was creating Backtrack I was determined to create and design in a way that would challenge the industry standard. I n other words, I desired to stand out by creating distinguishing features and amazing concepts that players would recognize as my mark in the board game industry. For example, if you have read "reason number four:" in regard to my ACF custom logo then you are aware that my logo is one of those distinguishing features. On most board game bottom boxes the publisher almost always writes a description about the board game. I n my case regarding Backtrack I didn't feel that a simple paragraph about my board game would suffice. I felt that the description was a great opportunity to be creative in my approach to describe my Backtrack tabletop board game. T hrough research I discovered that no board game past or present features a description in a 14 line rhyming expression. T he rhyming expression to your left was written by me as an effort to draw attention to my board game. My rhyming expression is a catchy sonnet that I think will appeal to the younger generation. I f you take a moment to read my rhyming expression you'll notice there is a hint as to how to play the game but doesn't give away specific information as far as how to actually play the game. I understood while creating and designing my Backtrack tabletop board game that lending every talent and skill that I had helped to bring my board game to fruition. I n other words, I not only used my skill in creation and design but my writing skills help me to approach the description in an exceptional manner!
