SEAPARC MUD RUN Sunday, June 11 11:00am-1:00pm SEAPARC’s Mud Run is back! Families can take part, but the course is geared towards 5-12 year olds. The course is designed to be fun, muddy and wet. Low-impact exercises to help increase mobility, dexterity and flexibility of the body. This class is great for those with arthritis, osteoporosis or pre/post-surgery.

Exercise rehabilitation in the pool for individuals with pain, injuries, arthritis, are pre or post surgery, or have injuries resulting from a motor vehicle accident. Programs can include active exercise or Aqua-Massage and Stretch. Please call reception for more information and pricing.
Increase your strength and cardiovascular endurance, while improving flexibility and agility. Can be in done shallow or deep water.
A trained coach is on the pool deck to offer a workout, stroke correction and technique to the group. Participants will swim lengths based on their fitness levels. Drop-in and give it a try.

Home Alone Program After school time and the occasional short outings for parents are easily dealt with when children are prepared. The main focus of the workshop is home and personal safety tips for dealing with emergency situations.
During this 60 minute seminar children will learn about a child’s 6 special powers of self-protection, street safety rules, safe places when help is needed, and lost or in trouble rules. We will also cover body rules and realistic physical and verbal strategies. Parent/ guardian attendance mandatory. Comfortable clothing recommended.

From SEAPARC we’ll head to AdrenaLINE Zipline Adventure Tours for a two hour adventure including a 10min ATV ride, 8 ziplines over 100 acres and cross 2 suspension bridges. You’ll experience an exhilarating ride up to 60km/hr as you soar up to 150 feet off the ground on eight scenic ziplines ranging from 150 feet to an unforgettable 1000 feet. The Greater Victoria Pink Salmon Festival Society takes children 8-16 years old (who do not normally have the opportunity) fishing during the biennial pink salmon run. Robotics – A Beginner’s Guide New!
Learn to care for children of various ages. Basic first aid and personal safety measures are emphasized throughout this workshop. Participants will also learn a variety of age appropriate games to give them the tools to be a great babysitter. A training manual and mini-first aid kit are included in the course fee. A Red Cross Babysitters certification card will be provided upon successful completion of the course.

From SEAPARC we’ll head to AdrenaLINE Zipline Adventure Tours for a two hour adventure including a 10min ATV ride, 8 ziplines over 100 acres and cross 2 suspension bridges. You’ll experience an exhilarating ride up to 60km/hr as you soar up to 150 feet off the ground on eight scenic ziplines ranging from 150 feet to an unforgettable 1000 feet. After lunch we’ll head back to SEAPARC for an afternoon swim. Minimum weight 65lbs.

Learn traditional and sport WTF Olympic Style Taekwondo with MIJO Sport. Classes are a blend of Taekwondo training, cardiovascular drills and core stability training. Enjoy this challenging and rewarding martial arts class with opportunities to progress in belt levels and attend tournaments. MIJO Taekwondo is a fully sanctioned WTF Taekwondo school and member of the Woo Kim Taekwondo Association.

Parents and alternate pick-ups are required to sign-in and out each day. Photo ID is required. Children may sign themselves out with written permission, see reception for more details.
What to bring to summer programs:
To have a positive and enjoyable program experience, children should bring the following each day: • Healthy snacks • Refillable water bottle • Hat • Sunscreen • Running shoes/athletic sandals (no flip flops)

Campers enjoying our full day programs will also need to bring: • A nutritious lunch with morning & afternoon snack • Weather appropriate clothing (eg. Jackets, sun shirts etc.) • Bathing suit & towel Please label all belongings and clothing with the child’s name. Please do not send your child to the program with any electronics, toys from home or valuables.
Medications, Epi-pens & Inhalers: If your child requires medication during program hours a medication form must be completed before the first day of camp.
Behavioural Expectations:
All children and youth attending recreation programs are expected to behave in a manner which ensures their own safety and the safety of other participants, staff and volunteers in the program. Staff will

This is a transitional level for preschoolers aged 24-36 months and their parents or caregivers. This level parents can gradually transfer their child into full time care of an experienced instructor. Participants and their caregivers work on submersion, jumping into chest deep water with assistance & kicking. Floats & recovery to a standing position are introduced and practiced. *Children older than 36 months who need parental support in the water will start here.

This is an introductory class for babies and toddlers, and their parent or caregiver. To enter this level, children must be able to hold their head up. The goal of this class is to experience buoyancy, movement, entries and holds in the water. Sea Turtle (30 minute lessons)
Sea Otter (Unparented) 3-5 Years
Children who are 3 years old or who have never participated in swimming lessons will enter the program here. In this level, swimmers will learn how to submerge, blow bubbles and open their eyes under water. Using games and activities, they will further develop their assisted floats & glides on their front and back and also experience age appropriate water safety skills.
Sea Otter (30 minute lessons)
Salamander/Sunfish 3-5 Years
In Salamander, unassisted floats and glides are taught. Rollover glides and front swims are introduced through games and songs. The fun includes jumping into chest deep water. Sunfish pushes the distance of all glides, and floats in deep water are practiced. Learning also focuses on good judgment in, on or around the water.
Salamander (30 minute lessons)
Crocodile/Whale 3-5 Years
Preschoolers start independent glides and kicking in deep water. Endurance is built though increasing distances for front and back swims as well as maintaining a surface support for 10 seconds. In Whale, focus is on progressions to front crawl. Front glides and front swim are performed for 10m. The basics of diving are introduced.

Swim Lessons SUMMER 2017

Level 1/2
This is an entry level for children to gain confidence moving through water. Rhythmic breathing and head submersion is encouraged and practiced through activities. Floats with recovery, and glides with and without flutter kick are taught. In level 2, the distance of front glides are increased to 10m. Rollover glides and front swim is practiced.
Whale (30 minute lessons)

Level 3/4
This level focuses on forming safe habits when swimming in deep water. Sitting dives and treading water is introduced. The combination of front glides and side glides is taught as a progression to front crawl. In level 4, endurance is built with a 25m distance swim. Back glides now include a shoulder roll in preparation for back crawl.
Swim Kids 1 (45 minute lessons)
Level 5/6
In Level 5 back glides with shoulder rolls are now developed into back crawl. Whip kick on the back and sculling is introduced in this level. Endurance is built through a 50m distance swim. Level 6 focuses on rhythmic breathing for front crawl encouraging a fluent stroke. Whip kick is now elementary backstroke, combining sculling and whip kick into one swim. The distance swim is 75m.
Level 7/8 & 9/10
In these levels, front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breast stroke and sidestroke are introduced and practiced. Endurance is built though 150m – 500m distances swims and different treading water techniques such as eggbeater. There is an emphasis on personal safety as well as the safety as others, including dealing with airway obstructions and hypothermia.
Super Saver Swim Lessons
These private swim lessons are blocked to run the same number of sessions as our regular swim lessons. Children or adults can focus on specific skills or full levels. Great for those who enjoy the one on one teaching experience. Unfortunately missed lessons cannot be credited or rescheduled. Up to 2 participants.

(or 12 and have completed Bronze Star) The Bronze Medallion award teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Participants also develop stroke efficiency and endurance in timed swims. Includes Canadian Lifesaving manual and pocket mask.
Lifesavers learn and practice basic lifesaving skills. The emphasis is on personal safety and there is an introduction to safety supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for National Lifeguard. The Canadian Lifesaving Manual and a pocket mask are required for this course. Material can be purchased if needed.

SEAPARC is pleased to offer the LIFE (Leisure Involvement for Everyone) Program. It is designed to provide no cost and low-cost recreation opportunities for individuals and families on limited incomes. The LIFE program offers free or reduced fee options for a variety of activities. Membership passes are available for children over 4 years of age, teens and adults/seniors. Individuals and families who live in Sooke or Juan de Fuca Electoral Area whose combined gross family income per household falls within or below the “Low Income” levels recognized by Statistics Canada may apply.

SEAPARC Leisure Complex has a variety of spaces available to rent for small meetings, parties, events, trade shows, conferences and private pool parties. POOL

Program Withdrawals
In order to receive a full refund/credit, requests must be received at least 72 hours prior to the program start date. Requests received after this time will not be accepted. Exceptions may be made for medical, relocation or other extenuating circumstances and the refund/credit will be issued on a pro-rated basis at the sole discretion of SEAPARC Leisure Complex. Supporting documentation, ie medical note, may be required. A $5 administration fee will apply to all refund requests.

Withdrawals must be submitted in writing to the Recreation Coordinator at least 30 days prior to the last day that your child will attend the program.
Minimum registration must be met within 72 hours prior to the start of any program. Please register early to avoid disappointment of cancelled programs.

We require 72 hours notice in order to reschedule a session. Withdrawals within 72 hours notice and missed sessions cannot be rescheduled or refunded.
Any NSF transactions will be subject to a $15 fee.
Holidays/Long Weekends
Most programs are not scheduled to run on statutory holidays or long weekends. This will be noted on your program registration receipt.
