News €5,000 fines likely for owners not in control of dogs
e Cabinet is looking into dog owners who are not in control of their animals should have their nes doubled.
Currently, under the Control of Dogs Act an owner can be ned €2,500. Following a review, it is being recommended that this be increased to €5,000.

In addition, the review carried out by an interdepartmental working group nds that 40 new dog wardens should be hired. Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue has brought a memo to Cabinet outlining the progress on the report on the control of dogs.
