Colombia

With a population of nearly 7 million, Bogotá is Colombia’s largest city and also its capital. Located in the Andes Mountains, at 8,661 feet (2,640 meters) above sea level, the city is one of the highest capitals in the world.

However there is nothing about this collision, or the colonial experience that followed, that sets Colombia apart from most other countries within the region. In terms of population and culture, Colombia does not stand out in any unique way. The balance of Spaniards, mestizos (those of mixed Spanish and Amerindian descent), Indians, Afro-Colombians, and others is comparable to that of many other Latin American countries.
