Abstract: Background: Gingival Mesenchymal Stem Cells (GMSCs) are an indispensable tool for the present and future of Regenerative Dentistry. Aim: This review focuses on GMSCs, signalling pathways and mechanisms through which trials were carried in vitro, and in vivo, matrices used along with GMSCs to aid in the potential regeneration of Periodontal tissues. Method: A narrative review spanning 17 years of Gingival mesenchymal stem cells in Pubmed Literature search with the key words “Gingival mesenchymal stem cells” had 340 results as of 17.07.2020 6.00AM from timeline 2003 to 2020. Result: 6 Clinical Trials reveal use of GMSCs incorporated in scaffolds like PLA/PGA membranes used in various periodontal defects show multi-lineage differentiation with qualitative and quantitative efficiency. Conclusion: GMSCs pose potential ways to go forward in periodontal regeneration as Osteogenic, Adipogenic, Chondrogenic differentiation potential are well appreciated. Thus GMSCs serve as a potential Stem Cell Bank for numerous diseases including Periodontal diseases.
