Detroit Area Access Map MDOT I-75 Ambassador Bridge Gateway Project WHAT: The MDOT I-75 Ambassador Bridge Gateway Project is the largest project in MDOT history. It is a major economic development project connecting area freeways to the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit’s Mexicantown neighborhood. The project includes:

Consider an alternate means of transportation

• Reconstructing I-75 and I-96 freeways and creating a new interchange for the bridge and local access

DDOT www.ci.detroit.mi.us/ddot Detroit Area: 313.933.1300 Outside Detroit: 888.336.8287

• A state-of-the-art pedestrian bridge across I-75 and I-96 connecting east and west Mexicantown in southwest Detroit • A redesigned Ambassador Bridge Plaza that will improve safety and ease traffic flow

SMART Bus System www.smartbus.org 866.962.5515

WHERE: A section of I-75 between Clark Street and I-96 will be closed to through traffic during construction. However, access to the Ambassador Bridge and to the community will be maintained throughout the project. All Mexicantown businesses will be fully accessible, including the new Detroit Mexicantown International Welcome Center and Mercado.

MichiVan Commuter Vans 800.826.7433 RideShare in Metro Detroit www.semcog.org 866.510.POOL Detroit People Mover www.thepeoplemover.com 313.962.7045 800.541.RAIL (7045)

WHEN: The project will start late February 2008 and will fully re-open to traffic by December 2009.

League of Michigan Bicyclists www.lmb.org 517.334.9100

WHY: The Ambassador Bridge, along with the I-94 and I-75/I-96 freeways, is part of a vital North American trade route. Thousands of vehicles travel these routes each day and approximately 11 million vehicles cross the bridge each year. Maintaining these routes and providing for future traffic expansion is key to regional growth and economic prosperity.

For up-to-the-minute updates on construction and traffic, turn to WWJ Newsradio 950, for Traffic and Weather Together on the Eights...

ECONOMIC IMPACT: The Gateway Project will have substantial positive economic impacts on the region. As a key element of MDOT's Five Year Plan, it will contribute to generating billions in Gross State Domestic Project and real personal income over the five years.

For more information, please contact the Michigan Department of Transportation’s Detroit Transportation Service Center 313.965.6350

WHAT TO DO: • Consider using buses, carpools and vanpools • Plan an alternate and a backup alternate route • Check www.michigan.gov/gateway for the latest project updates throughout construction
