media information The 2008 Washburn University Soccer Media Guide is intended to provide information for writers, broadcasters, sports editors, sports information personnel and fans who follow the Lady Blues. Material in the guide was current as of the printing deadline of Aug. 10, 2008. Additional information is available in the Washburn Sports Information Office and through weekly releases available to personnel from accredited media outlets covering the Lady Blues and on the athletic department web site.
Directions to the Yager Stadium Washburn University is in Topeka, Kan., at the intersection of 21st street and Washburn Avenue. Yager Stadium is located to the west of Petro Allied Health Center at the east edge of the Washburn campus. Parking for the facility is east and southeast of the stadium. Washburn Sports Information Office The Washburn University Sports Information Office is located in room 200D of the Petro Allied Health Center. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday though Friday. Phone: 785-670-1791; Fax: 785-670-1091. You may e-mail the SID office at athletics@washburn.edu. Media Access/Services Media credentials are available to personnel from accredited media outlets by contacting Gene Cassell, Sports Information Director, Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas 66621. Media may also call the office for access to the soccer complex as seating is limited. Radio stations wishing to broadcast from Yager Stadium should make broadcast requests through the Sports Information Office. Telephones for writers from which to file are available in the press box. Media services include lineups, plus statistics and game notes for each team. Complete stat packets will be available approximately five minutes after the completion of the game.
Interview Policies Postgame interviews with Tim Collins are available to media personnel after his brief meeting with the team immediately following the game. Interview requests during the week on non-game days are asked to be arranged through the sports infomation office. In addition to updated results, statistics and game stories, you can find photos, player and coach biographies, schedule and roster information and weekly releases on the Lady Blues soccer program. 2007 Soccer Guide Honored The 2007 Washburn Lady Blues Soccer Media guide was named “Best in the Nation” by the College Sports Information Directors Association of America and was one of 11 awards the Washburn sports information office received during the 2006-07 school year and one of 52 awards the office has won since Gene Cassell was named Washburn sports information director on Dec. 3, 1998.
