CUISINE · GASTRONOMÍA This municipality offers a varied choice of typical Canary cuisine, both in the town centre of Santa Lucía and in other towns such as Vecindario or Sardina. Some of the finest dishes can be found in village restaurants in the interior, including papas arrugadas potatoes, sancocho and marinated rabbit. But the municipality’s most characteristic product is the olive, the mejunje –a traditional drink made up of rum, honey, hierbaluisa or lemon verbena, and lemon juice-, wines, both red and white, honey and oil.
El municipio ofrece una variada oferta gastronómica típica canaria, tanto en el casco de Santa Lucía como en los núcleos urbanos de Vecindario o Sardina. Algunos de los mejores platos los encontrará en restaurantes de los pueblos de interior como las papas arrugadas, el sancocho o el conejo en adobo. Pero lo característico del municipio es la aceituna, el mejunje –bebida tradicional compuesta principalmente por ron, miel, hierbaluisa y zumo de limón-, los vinos, tinto y blanco, la miel y el aceite.
SHOPPING · DE COMPRAS In Santa Lucía de Tirajana there are many choices at which to get your mementos of the island, or spend an afternoon shopping. In Vecindario there are three large shopping centres, the C.C. Atlántico Vecindario, C.C. La Ciel and C.C. Avenida de Canarias, all of which can be accessed from the GC-1 motorway. If you would like to purchase locally grown fruit and vegetables, or local meats, Vecindario holds a farmers market every Monday and a traditional market on Wednesdays. In Santa Lucía there is a traditional market on Sundays. All of these are open from 08:00 to 14:00 hrs. If you would like to learn about artisan and craftwork in the municipality, we recommend you visit the Centro de Artesanía de Vecindario, located right in the Parque de la Era, next to the Tourism Office.
En Santa Lucía de Tirajana hay muchas opciones para llevarse un recuerdo de la Isla o para pasar una tarde de compras. En Vecindario encontrará tres grandes superficies, el C.C. Atlántico, el C.C. La Ciel y el C.C. Avenida de Canarias, a los que podrá acceder desde la Autopista del Sur. Si desea comprar productos hortofrutícolas o carnes de la tierra, en Vecindario se celebra los lunes un mercado agrícola y los miércoles un mercado tradicional. En Santa Lucía hay mercado tradicional los domingos. Todos abren de 08:00 a 14:00 horas. Si quiere conocer el trabajo artesanal del municipio le recomendamos que visite el Centro de Artesanía de Vecindario, ubicado en el Parque de la Era, junto a la Oficina de Turismo.

Take the GC-1 motorway down to Vecindario. To get to the town centre of Santa Lucía you need to turn off at the road to Los Cuchillos along the GC-65. You can also get there from Agüimes, via Temisas (GC-550).
Tomar la Autopista GC-1 hasta Vecindario. Para llegar al casco de Santa Lucía debe desviarse y tomar la carretera de Los Cuchillos por la GC-65. También se puede llegar desde el municipio de Agüimes, por Temisas (GC-550).
