The Wester n Snowboarding Federa t i o n (WSF) is a diverse organization of snowboarding enthusiasts enrolled at t h e University of Wester n Ontario. In 2009, WSF built a “Mega-ramp” sn o w b o a rd park for all members and became nat i o n a l l y recognized in Canada’s mainstream m e d i a magazine – Macleans – as being “wha t ’s h o t ” at Wester n. The WSF has continued t o re c i e v e media attention from local media outl e t s and hilights as one of Wester n’s most v i s i b l e student organizations.

THE MEGA RAMP

The WSF Mega Ramp was designed and b u i l t b y a veteran snowboarder and parkbuilder i n O n t a r i o . It was designed to allow riders to hit XL f e a t u r e s without the use of a large hill or tow-in s y s t e m . The ramp features a 14’ high platform co m p l e t e with hip and knee rails for safety. It then d r o p s 1 0 feet onto an intense 2-piece 2-angle dow n s l o p e to give riders maximum speed in the sho r t e s t amount of time and distance. The down s l o p e then connects to an 8’ wide, 4’ high, 20 ’ l o n g platform to allow riders just enough spac e t o s e t up for the feature. Currently the ramp lau n c h e s riders onto a 24’ long 6’ high flat-down r a i l . Upgrades are already underway to provid e W S F with the best training grounds in Ontario .
