Manuel Burga and Juan Ángel Napout as to the probable modifications to be made in FIFA’s by-laws, in which both leaders have an active participation as South America’s representatives. Dr. Leoz congratulated Burga and Napout for the work performed upon this matter. MOTION ON SECURITY Through the initiative of Rafael Esquivel, President of the Venezuelan Football Federation, a motion was presented to set up a security infrastructure in the South American stadiums. Mr. José Clemente, an Executive from a Spanish enterprise, was invited to explain the details of the project, which as he pointed out, would have no cost for the institutions that may decide to implement this system. It was decided to analyze this possibility, though it was stressed that the clubs would be the owners of the stadiums who would have the freedom to adopt such a security system. FUTSAL AND BEACH SOCCER Mr. Eugenio Figueredo, in charge of the Futsal and Beach Soccer Commission, pointed out that the Merconorte and Mercosur tournaments cancelled the previous year on account of some economic problems, will be disputed this year from 15 to 22 April. He recalled that these competitions will define the qualified teams in Thailand’s World Cup to be disputed from 2 to 18 November. Four South American teams will qualify for

this World Cup. As regards the South American Beach Soccer tournament, qualifier for Tahiti’s World Cup, several associations intend to carry out its organization, an issue which was dealt with. U-17 WOMEN’S SOUTH AMERICAN IN BOLIVIA Mr. Carlos Chávez made known the venues of the above mentioned tournament, which will be Sucre for Group “A” and Santa Cruz de la Sierra, for “B”. The groups are made up as follows: “A”, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and Ecuador; “B”, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and Venezuela. The competition will take place from 9 to 25 March. The President of the Peruvian Federation praised Dr. Leoz for the economic expenditure this tournament’s organization demands, since it does not generate resources, though its is fully supported by CONMEBOL. U-20 WOMEN’S SOUTH AMERICAN Mr. Rómer Osuna gave some details on the foregoing tournament, successfully disputed in Curitiba, Brazil and attained by the local national team. Brazil and Argentina won the two berths at stake for the World Cup of the category to be disputed in Japan from August 19 to September 8 next. At the beginning, this World Cup was to be disputed in Uzbekistan, though the venue was changed due to technical and logistics problems as reported by FIFA. submitted a report on this competition, which will start its groups’ phase on the following week. He also mentioned a referees’ course that took place in CONMEBOL from January 28 to February 1. Thirty-four South American top-level referees participated in it, having a great objective in mind, namely the 2014 World Cup. One of the instructors was Swiss Massimo Busacca, sent by FIFA, together with the president of CONMEBOL Referees’ Commission, Dr. Carlos Alarcón. INTERNATIONAL CALENDAR Mr. José Luis Meiszner informed all the attendants as to the local championships of the South American Associations. He pointed out that they must send the dates of these national

tournaments to their respective head-offices to include them in the international schedule of competitions. U-20 COPA LIBERTADORES Finally, it was informed that the U-20 Copa Libertadores, which second edition will take place in Peru from June 15 to July 1, is a tournament whose participants must qualify according to the format each national Association considers most convenient. It was also reminded that in addition to Universitario (Peru) and Boca Juniors (Argentina), champion and runner-up of the inaugural edition, there will be other 12 South American teams, one from Mexico and another one from Europe.
