Newsletter December 2016

General information continued... I am sure some of you have already seen the publicity recently about conjunctivitis and the recommended non-exclusion by G.Ps . In our policies we state that we have an exclusion period of 24 hours whilst drops are administered if needed. We have had cases of conjunctivitis lead to more serious complications for both staff and children and dues to its contagious nature we will continue to exclude for this whilst we look into the matter. We would ask for your support in this and if your child has symptoms of conjunctivitis please do not send them to nursery. If they break out in a case of it at nursery we would ask that they are collected promptly to stop further contamination. Toys and equipment are routinely cleaned but extra cleaning has been put in place due to the increased cases we have had of conjunctivitis. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter. Christmas parties All rooms will be having Christmas parties for the children and will notify you individually about this with further details . Parking permits We now have parking permits to be displayed on your dash board for using in the nursery/blue badge car park. The premises team in the college will be doing regular patrols of the nursery/blue badge car park so it will make it easier for them to see who should not be parked in there and stop them from taking up spaces for the nursery and blue badge holders. We will automatically issue one permit to each child and put it in drawers for you to collect. If you would like an extra one please come to the office for one. We would appreciate it if you could pass the permits back to us when your child leaves the nursery. Thank you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Finally myself and all the staff at Children First Nursery would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and hope that you all enjoy your Christmas break .

Butterflies This month We will be having a super festive month!! We will be learning our Christmas songs and our roles in the nativity. We will be looking at the Christmas story and the reason we celebrate Christmas. We will be creating Christmas themed crafts; so expect lots of glittery children to come home!!! On the week beginning Monday 12th December we will be having an extra festive week with a party on the Tuesday, Nativity on the Wednesday, Christmas dinner on the Thursday and a party on the Friday. We are looking forward to our exciting trip out to see the pantomime Peter Pan.

Acknowledgements Thank you for all your support with Children in Need. We raised ÂŁ303! Congratulations to the Stockwell family on the safe arrival of Travis! Max is a very proud big brother!

Other bits and bobs If children do need to bring a comforter, please can it be of a size to fit in their tray. We do not want to see toys from home in the room as this can cause conflicts and children to get upset. Thank you for your assistance in this matter .

Ideas for home At this time of year, share your child’s love of Christmas by writing a letter to Santa!

Forest School We have been making Christmas decorations– this activity allows lots of maths discussion. We have been talking about long, short, big, small, counting up to 10, estimating, ordering and of course taking turns and waiting for an adult!

We have also been talking about the change in seasons, squirrels collecting nuts for the winter and hiding them cleverly and also about the weather! Autumn is a wonderful season in forest school and children have loved the windy days watching the leaves blow around. The children think hot chocolate tastes even better when it is cold

Ideas for home Outdoor walks, splashes in puddles, running in the wind, hunting for treasure; all these fun things would follow our theme of enjoying the seasons and being aware of our outdoor environment! With Christmas fast approaching it is the perfect time of year to get crafty with an endless list of what the children could make with twigs, pinecone and glitter.
