TAC approved Rs.55,548 crore for the Polavaram project The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the Central Water Commission (CWC) approved the Polavaram Project revised cost estimates (RCE) of Rs.55,548 crore in New Delhi. The TAC under the chairmanship of U.P. Singh approved the second detailed project report (DPR-2) at the 2017-18 price level. The cost of the project was estimated to be Rs.16,010.45 crore at the 2010-11 level and the State government had submitted a revised estimate of Rs.57,940.86 crore at 2013-14 level. The TAC, however, approved the 2017-18 level. The estimate will now have to be approved by the Union Finance Ministry and sent to the Union Cabinet for final approval. The delay in approval of the RCE has cost Andhra Pradesh dearly with the State spending Rs.3,866.79 crore in advance.
