Drs. Al Kuwari said the Department of Public Health and B4Development has been working closely with ethics experts over the past few years before and after the epidemic to address the country's serious public health problems. The session opened with a discussion on the importance of behavioral science in health policy and planning. Behavioral science focuses on understanding why specific behaviors and decision-making processes occur by investigating drivers and barriers to health-related behaviors that operate somewhere in the cognitive, social, and environmental levels. Drs. Al Kuwari described how Qatar used behavioral science to promote a healthy lifestyle, get people to eat healthily and regularly engage in physical activity, and deal with the many risks of noncommunicable diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, and heart disease cancer.
