The Sendai Report argues that the practice of disaster risk management (DRM) is a defining characteristic of resilient societies, and should therefore be integrated– or ‘mainstreamed’–into all aspects of development. The report outlines how the World Bank will work to further integrate DRM into development planning and upscale support for targeted DRM initiatives. The report was launched at the Sendai Dialogue on October 9, 2012, a special event on Disaster Risk Management, co-organized by the Government of Japan and the World Bank, as part of the Program of the WB/IMF Annual Meetings 2012, and also informed discussions at the Development Committee.
