Editorial We start this magazine off with the kids. In this our world, no kid wants to be a kid, and if you’re not a kid, you’re in denial. Don’t you just hate that word? Every child wants to be an adult. An adult. Never a grown-up. And you should know; you spent your en're childhood pretending to be one. A fantasy that is s'll leeching on to you like a parasite and like your ‘friends’. So long that by now, you’ve probably convinced yourself that it’s real. When you look at younger people and realize how young they are, you’re convinced that what is now is real. If it’s real, why does that happen again and again? Maybe you’ve worn out your life whilst being convinced that it hasn’t started yet. Maybe you’ve living a fantasy, a parody of what is real; as stable as a burs'ng bubble.

Definition of Fantasy Fantasy…. Everyone loves a good fairy tale right? Have you ever wondered where they came from? Or how they came to be? What is the difference between fantasy and myths? They really are the same thing, myths include gods, creatures heroes etc. fantasy may have some fine differences but they are essen'ally the same. Myths and legends are usually confined to the local area while fantasy is a wider broader subject of the fantas'cal world that is much different to ours. Myths and legend are influenced by local religion and rituals. Although mythology was probably not fantasy to the people who lived in that area. Fantasy came from foreigners who came to one area and found that the myths and legends there seemed fantas'cal. What fantasy usually includes is, just items, races, and other things placed in a rather cliché plot usually. Most of the races are semi-human and most items use a general power also known as “magic” this usually appears in all fantasy stories. Some'mes items include other-worldly metals and materials. Stereotypical races usually include elves, fairies, dwarves and orks (or orcs) and maybe a unicorn.

LUNCH TIME TABLE FOR FANTASY Breakfast What a wonderful way to start the day with fresh raw meat from a rabbit. Rabbit are easy to find and cut and their blood tastes like no other thing any mythical creature had ever tasted. Lunch By mid-day monsters are probably really hungry a9er a day outside so the easiest thing to get are mosquitos fried with ear wax- at that 'me of day there are usually a lot of mosquitos around, the ear wax comes from ogres because they usually have a lot. Dinner Dinner is always hard to get right. Nothing too much or too li<le- something easy yet scrump'ous. So they make themselves a witch’s chopped off fingers with old bird’s guts. It’s always in stock in the fantasy supermarket. Drinks The first drink is salted water from the sea. Monsters tend to do it themselves by buying salt and adding water. The second drink is vampires sweat because it has a lot of energy in it which is recommended for morning juice.

The Questionnaire (Fantasy Theme) We asked our group questions that have to do with fantasy and here are our results WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CHARTS ARE VERY RANDOM

Once upon a 'me there was a plump and short girl. Unfortunately, her first name was Smellysocks. One day Smellysocks had gone into the forest for a li<le stroll. Pre<y soon she bumped into a 'ny house. A huge sign on the door said “Mr, Mrs and li<le Bear.” She rang the doorbell about… a million 'mes before she was pre<y frustrated and just stormed in. On the table was a filthy looking porridge (made out of dead tyrannosaurus liver). But Smellysocks was starving so she took a bite. She tasted the first porridge. “This porridge has too much liver!” she exclaimed So, she tasted the porridge from the second bowl. “This porridge has too less liver,” she said So she tasted the last bowl of porridge. “Ahh this porridge is just right,” she said happily and she ate it all up! A9er she'd eaten the three bears' breakfasts she decided she was feeling a thirsty. So, she walked into the bar (they had bar in the house!) where she saw three glasses full of rum. Smellysocks drank the first glass of rum. ‘This rum is extremely bi<er!” she exclaimed So she drank the second glass of rum. “This rum is too bi<er too!” she whined She tried the last rum. “Ahhh this rum is just right,” she sighed but just as she was about to take another sip the rum spilled on to her. Smellysocks was very 'red by this 'me, so she went upstairs to the bedroom. She lay down in the first bed, but it was too hard. Then she lay in the second bed, but it was too so9. Then she lay down in the third bed and it was just right. Smellysocks fell asleep. As she was sleeping the 3 bears came home from their relaxing session at the spa. “Someone's been ea'ng my porridge," growled the Papa bear. "Someone's been ea'ng my porridge," said the Mama bear.

"Someone's been ea'ng my porridge and they ate it all up!" raged the Baby bear. "Someone's been drinking my rum" growled the Papa bear. "Someone's been drinking my rum," said the Mama bear. "Someone's been drinking my litre of rum," growled the Baby bear. They decided to look around some more and when they got upstairs to the bedroom, Papa bear growled, "Someone's been sleeping in my bed," "Someone's been sleeping in my bed, too" said the Mama bear "Someone's been snoring in my bed and she's s'll is!" screamed the agitated Baby bear. Just then, Smellysocks woke up and saw the three bears. She screamed, "Help! Invaders," she jumped up and ran out of the room. Smellysocks ran down the stairs, opened the door, and ran away into the forest. “Are you kidding me?! You come into MY house and basically just ruin it. Come back here you hairy monster and CLEAN YOUR MESS!” shouted the baby bear in anger. Well he didn’t sound like a baby bear he sounded more like a 16 year old bully. A few years later Smellysocks tried to invade again. But as soon as she opened the door she saw three bulky bears with sly smiles on their face. Moreover they were armed with huge weapons. Smellysocks gave a small smile and then dashed out into the forest. Never to be seen again. THE END

Lord of the Rings Review Lord of the Rings is an adventure/fantasy novel in which 4 hobbits, (Small people that look like elves) journey to a volcano called ‘Mount Doom’. The story takes a while to develop, and sometimes it requires the reader to have a long memory, because it has a lot of characters and they all have similar names. It also has quite an intriguing plot, with the main characters going on loads of adventures. However, it is exciting and hard to put down. Quite soon you’ll find yourself having favorite characters; there are about 50 to choose from! Personally my favorite character is Legolas, an elf who has a bow and arrow, and his best friend is a dwarf called Gimili. In conclusion, the Lord of the Rings trilogy for DVD and books is a really fascinating and exciting adventure. After watching / reading it, you’ll certainly have more volcabulary!

“It’s riveting!” Hannah Cragg. 9/10
