Another inspiration from the local architectue is Riad . It is internal small garden that helps to control air temperature inside of the house. In the project colder air from the ocean surface ventilate rooms and hot air from heated interior is moving away through the patio in the middle of the structure.

DANCE SCHOOL IN MATOSINHOS

Dance School Matosinhos Porto

School is located in industrial district of Porto aglomeration, in district of Matosinhos. Next to the bridge that conects two sides of harbour canal. Place is full of big metal and conrete structures. North of Portugal in opositionto what you could think is not so sunn y . Matosinhos has cold industrial character of a small port town. I t i s g r e y b u t a l s o e l e g a n t a n d m i s t e r i o u s . Architectonic form and materials refers to enviroment of a port district. Massive, monolithic structure of a main building volume imitate heavy port devices; cranes, ships or a bascule bridge that stays in surroundings. Using cold puristic architectural language project fits in that context perfectly.

Functional schema is dividing object into a two levels, plus underground parking lot. All the first level room are open via a corridor to schools inside patio with extra outdoor dancefloor that normally is accessible just from the building interior. Second floor is just for entrance zone and performance hall. Distribution is circular, around the patio.

The most characteristic part of the building is monumental construction of an auditorium that is dominating in area and become main point in architectural expression of the school. Is also the most problematic structure in hole conception. Over 16 meters tall and 22 meters long massive piece of concrete and steel is suportet by system of abutements and tiebeams, sticked to the ground by huge concrete walls.

SCULPTURE IN KWIDZYN Subject of the competition was the partnership of Kwidzyn and a city of Bar in Ukraine. Kwidzyn has one of the biggest paper industry in Poland. So our idea was that the sculpture should look like pile of paper that is blowed by the wind and with the typical Ukrainian pattern symbolise good will sended from Kwidzyn to Bar.

Szymany

Szymany is setteled in very natural part of Poland, full of lakes and forests. New terminal will be a connection with the world for region and great oportunity for develope. Main aim of the project is to provide shelter for travelers in very natural enviroment. That is why first thing that we had to consider was that very strong context. Airport has very minimalistic, transpaent and delicate form that seems to vapour in the wall off surrounding forest. We tried to create bulding that is as enviroment friendly as is possible, using materials such as silka bricks, re-used brick from old devasteted bulding all around, wooden structure and policarbonate. Bulding is full of light and has good air quality and climat comfort thanks to policarbonate facade.
