2017 NUMBER 1

Wood Rose joins Gradelink

Welcome back or just Welcome to Wood Rose We are all excited about this new school year. As you surely noticed, during the last couple of months, while you were on vacation, we were working hard to get the school ready for our families. We hope you and your students appreciate the freshly painted school and other improvements. As in every new school year, changes in procedures and personnel must be adapted to, but so far, so good! Students and staff had a positive first day and look forward to a great school year. As part of the changes, we would like to introduce this new newsletter format. It will be sent monthly instead of weekly, so you will be able to hang it on your fridge and take a look everyday at the menu, birthdays and all the school events. Also, I will send a weekly updates and letters through email as reminders or to inform you what is going on here at Wood Rose. Have a blessed month! Mr. Solino

Academy Lunch Duty Signups Needed Each Academy family is asked to help supervise the lunch hour at least 5 times per enrolled student during the course of the school year. Volunteers help students manage their lunches, direct students in cleaning up, maintain a safe, fun environment for play and enforce school rules for the playground. Parents (or grandparents) may signup at http:// signup.com/go/JWghkNC

Wood Rose families are able to download the phone app and follow up on everything that happens at school.

Calling all Student Leaders! Wood Rose would like to have a student council this year. Are there any interested 5th, 6th ,7th or 8th graders? If so please plan on attending a meeting this Friday September 1st during lunch in 8th Gr classroom from 12:45 to 1pm to help beginning planning and formulating our Student Council. Be a Leader!

Prayer Corner The Wood Rose Community is praying for all of those affected by flooding in Texas. Please keep Ms. Susan Chabot in your prayers as she grieves the loss of both a very dear friend and her sister-in-law, Mia, who both passed within a week’s time.

New Preschool Bilingual Materials As most of us already know, since our partnership with Fundacion Arenales, we have been constantly undergoing significant transformations to enhance all the aspects of how we provide the highest quality education possible to our pupils. From changes to our culture, curriculum to our vision of providing a better school environment; we are again proud to announce that we will start providing our pre-school students with the proper educational materials to complement our more developed and beneficial teaching techniques. In the coming days, we will provide our little geniuses with our new and definitely improved learning materials. Each child will be provided with their own set of books that they would need to reach their highest potentials in learning about Religion, Math and Writing. Along with the impeccable teaching expertise of our faculty, the DAIS philosophy -- The Development and Activation of our students’ Intellectual Skills is the approach we apply to educate our students in a Bilingual manner (Initially, through English and Spanish, with the possibility integrating Chinese in the future); and to develop early stimulation, psychomotricity, creativity, language and math skills -- will be applied to impart the necessary knowledge and skills to every child. This is indeed great news and we hope we all -- teachers, parents and students -- get to maximize these books for the benefit our beloved students!

Fund a Need Our Goals for September: The Preschool would like to acquire a classroom projector. Cost: $350 The Academy would like to add two soccer goals to our field. Cost: $500 Your tax-deductible contribution could be put directly to use by our teachers and students. Consider making a gift today!
