Until the outfall

Then already viewing the Palha Sea, a basin in the Tagus estuary where we can have a quick look at Montijo, Barreiro, Amora, Seixal and Almada, it’s time to turn the bow south to the opening of the large sea to face a sunset that is almost always splendid. Also here other boats are sailing with their sails at blowing breeze. And other small boats where along the deck tourists gaze at so much beauty. And there it is the Cais da Rocha Conde d’Óbidos and the Cais de Alcântara waiting for large container ships. And it is upon these anchored ships, sometimes hiding among cranes or slender masts of small pleasure craft, that stands the majestic and beautiful building of the Museum of Ancient Art and the elitist neighborhood of Lapa.

Under the bridge of April 25

And as we continue sailing downstream we come across with the bridge over the Tagus again. Between the deck and the sky rises the eternal and fascinating 25th of April bridge in its color between red and orange in a journey that seems to end at the foot of another reference of this river and whose iconographic grandeur is lost in time, the statue of Christ the King. This is also the opening of a wide and long space where the grass and the sky invite families or lovers to walk along the river bank or fishers who patiently throw the bait to water. Here, overlooking the Tagus, is another important landmark for the city of Lisbon, a beautiful and imposing brick building erected in 1908 to supply the whole city with electricity, and which is now home to the Electricity Museum, a beautiful work of architecture that seems to be arm in arm with a futuristic building built in 2016, the MAAT, or Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology.
