As President of the University of Oklahoma, I am deeply appreciative of the President’s Associates program, which is the most successful private support program in our history. Year after year, our faithful and generous President’s Associates make a critical difference in the quality of this university. Gifts made by Associates touch virtually every academic area, from scholarships to faculty enrichment. Each spring, I am delighted to award Associates Presidential Professorship awards to outstanding teachers and scholars. In recent years, hundreds of Associates have increased their annual contribution to fund a Sooner Heritage Scholarship. These added donations have helped hundreds of deserving students fulfill their dream of attending the University of Oklahoma. To each and every participant in the President’s Associates program, I extend my sincere gratitude and warmest wishes.

Who Are the President’s Associates? Since its beginning in 1979, the President’s Associates program has been integral to OU’s success in areas as far-ranging as the National Merit Scholars Program and Center for the Analysis and Prediction of Storms. President’s Associates provide unrestricted funding that allows President Boren to deal with critical issues and pursue initiatives that enrich OU’s academic mission. Because donors can designate half of their gift to a favorite college or program, Associates’ funds provide the same kind of opportunities to OU deans and program directors.

OU/ Texas Weekend Each year, members of the President’s Associates program are invited to come together in celebration of college football’s greatest rivalry. Taking place in the heart of Dallas, the Associates’ weekend features accommodations at a first-class hotel, complete with a nightly room rate reserved exclusively for our members. On game day, crimson and cream dominates the banquet hall as brunch is served and entertainment is given by the OU spirit squads and the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band. Transportation to the Cotton Bowl is provided by police-escorted buses that drop Sooner fans off right at the front gate of the Texas State Fair. It’s a weekend that highlights the calendar of Associates from across the country.

Many employers will match donations at a rate of 1:1, and sometimes as high as 3:1. A company that matches at a rate of 1:1 means your $1,000 gift only requires $500 from you and $500 from your company. Find out if your company matches gifts in support of higher education.

The ½ Designation

You can take one-half of your annual contribution and designate it to any academic program you choose. The one-half designation also can be used to help fund scholarships, support programs or academic teams. When you make your gift, just mark the box stating you would like to “designate one-half of my annual gift to,” and fill in the area you wish to support. *One-half designations can only be made to academic programs. Support of athletics must be made through the Athletics Department.

Associates’ Funds Benefiting The Pride of Oklahoma Belting out another verse of “Boomer Sooner,” the Pride of Oklahoma is a fixture at University of Oklahoma sporting events. As much a part of games as the teams on the field, the Pride livens up any stadium in America with its energetic and passionate support of the Sooners. In addition to the many academic areas supported by Associates, the students who comprise the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band are special recipients of Associate funds.

Methods of Giving

There are a number of ways to make your gift to the President’s Associates program an easy and convenient process. Checks made payable to “The University of Oklahoma Foundation” are accepted, as well as all major credit cards. Additionally, equal payments can be made via electronic funds transfer through your bank account. Just provide a voided blank check with your initial paperwork and we’ll do the rest. For OU faculty and staff, monthly payments can be made through payroll deduction – another easy way to give!
