’ve learnt a lot of lessons since launching Women in Trade four years ago. One of the most notable lessons has been the importance of persistence and the amazing benefits it brings. Sticking to your initial vision can be hard at times as not everyone will get it, but the most important thing is that you understand it. We have had some incredible women on the covers of Women in Trade, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to meet them. This edition is all about lessons learnt, and I wanted to bring you a collection of stories and articles that will, I hope, uncover some of the answers that you have been seeking in your own business or personal life. Our cover star Carrie Grant explains how she finds her answers through listening to people and tuning in to what they are really saying, on page 22. Fancy learning Calligraphy? Courageous calligrapher Kirsten Burke talks about overcoming cancer, and discusses how she uses her trade to inspire people to look deeper into themselves. Read her story on page 58. Tools and Tiara presents a hard-working plumber, Judaline Cassidy, in our winter Shared Values. Meet her on page 16. Are you feeling hot this winter? In our winter Mind, Body Boosts we have tips on how to pause the flushes using sage tea and cycling. Our guest contributor, Dr Claire Hardy from King’s College, London, shares her views on Menopause and Work on page 32. Thanks to all our subscribers, advertisers, contributors and, most of all, our readers – we wish you all a safe and warm Christmas and an enlightened New Year! See you in spring.
