When I was younger, I had a chance to meet the performance artist James Luna. He is a Native American who makes art pieces and performances about his life as a human being; all the struggles that come with it. He challenged me to make art from a place where it was not easy to talk about, things I struggled with, and where it was painful. I took his advice to heart. I find that when I am honest and share a piece of my life, it opens up doors for other people to tell and share their own stories.
