This publication shows the content of our curated exhibition "We Need to Talk About Homelessness" which takes place at Künstlerhaus Bregenz from March, 20th until May, 2nd 2021. We as a group of 13 students worked on that sensitive topic over the last semester.
Home — hardly anything was more relevant in 2020. In the times of the COVID-19 pandemic, our awareness of how critical a home is to the individual has only risen. As public life shut down, the concept of the home office made an inescapable ascent and all social life — all safety — was reduced to the private realm. But what actually happens when you don‘t have a home? The urban dimension of homelessness has rarely been as visible as it is today; when the streets are empty, the homeless are the ones left behind. The current global crisis adds focus to a topic that has been pressing for decades. All over the world the number of people experiencing homelessness, especially in cities, is rising. We need to talk about it.
