University Singers Tour Home Concert Tuesday, February 27, 2018 8 p.m. Wilson Concert Hall

Join the renowned University Singers as they return from their 2018 tour of the Northeast and Midwest with an evening of a cappella choral mastery. The tour will include performances in Washington D.C., New Haven (Yale), Philadephia, Louisville, and elsewhere, featuring music from Bach to pieces composed specifically for the tour by conductor Shane M. Lynch. The heart of the concert will be a set entitled A Soldier’s Tale centered on Ēriks Ešenvalds’ haunting A Soldier’s Mother’s Lullaby. Finally, the program closes with folk songs, gospel music, and other works of Americana that are always audience favorites, including Shawn Kirchner’s wonderful new arrangement of Sweet Rivers. Tickets are free, but required.

Faculty Recital: Mockingbird Amongst the Flowers Sunday, March 4, 2018 3 p.m. Wilson Concert Hall

Celebration of a beautiful, two-manual, Frenchstyle harpsichord (copy of a Taskin 1769 Model by John Watson of Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1976) gifted by alumnus Lawrence Smith, M.D., class of 1958 and his wife Ganelle. Faculty members Byron W. Petty, Shuko Watanabe, and William McCorkle will perform a program featuring French and Italian works from the Baroque.

Senior Composition Recital: Jordan Goldstein ’18 Sunday, March 11, 2018 3 p.m. Wilson Concert Hall

Jordan Goldstein, a senior from Alexandria, Virginia, is a music composition and global politics double major. Her original compositions will be presented at this concert. No tickets are required.
