What is the best Latin textbook?

Ecce Romani is undoubtedly the champion of Latin textbooks Although it may not have the best teaching methods, its captivating stories and riveting dialogue lead students to a greater understanding of the Latin language

What was your favorite thing about State Convention?

My favorite thing about state convention was being able to return to in-person convention So many delegates, including myself, had not been able to be a part of the unique experiences that in-person State convention brings, but after this year, I can say that it was an awesome experience

State Recap 7

This year's State Convention was a major success! From playing Certamen to going to the dance, every delegate found something fun to do at State! Everyone enjoyed walking around Madison (despite the weather) and getting to spend time with their friends, while making new ones as well! Congratulations to all of the winners, and to everyone for participating in something, whether it was roll call. impromptu art, or anything else!

Thoughts on State:

1. Michelle Xie, Brookfield East High School:

Very fun! The dance was fun and certamen finals were very exciting to watch. Also the toga dinner was nice (I'm glad togas are mandatory)

Ecce

Anika Taneja, Brookfield Academy: I really enjoyed state this year! My favorite part was meeting new people and door-dashing taco bell. I can't wait for next year!

Nikhil Chawla, Brookfield Academy: I really enjoyed my first State Convention, and I think there was a very good balance between testing, events/activities, and social affairs. There was so much to do all wrapped into one weekend, and I would definitely do it again

Anvesha Guru, Brookfield Academy: State this year was so so much fun! It was amazing to see all the delegations from other schools at spirit, and check out what ideas everyone else had with the themes!

Marcy, DSHA: I would say the most memorable moment for me was the dance

Obviously performing crusin for a bruise was life changing. But what really made it so special is that I did that dance my junior year and my senior year someone remembered me doing it and when I got to the dance he came up to me and told me he requested they play that song so I did it again. That moment really highlighted how special the whole Latin Con community is.

Thoughts

on State: 9 Ecce 1.

Maddie, DSHA: think Latin con overall just helped me come out of my shell a little bit. In spirit you can't be quiet and timid, you have to scream and be as loud as you can. I can be a very loud person, but I had to be loud in front of a lot more people than I'm used to Also just the joy of winning both spirit assemblies was of course a highlight. I will forever remember walking up to grab that tiger and those dinosaur tech-decks

Cynthia Yu, Brookfield Academy: State was a great experience, it was super fun to participate in impromptu art as well as cheer on all of the certamen teams Though spirit was tiring, the energy from each school was admirable.

Sanjit Madireddi, Brookfield Academy: I had a wonderful experience at the WJCL State Convention, meeting other people, hanging out with my friends, and participating in all the contests.

Sander Armbruster, Brookfield Academy: I had a great time at state this year because I got to spend time with my friends and share our love of the classics

Rohan Singh, Brookfield Academy: I enjoyed the State experience It was an opportunity to spend time with friends while also meeting new people who shared the same interests as me. I also really enjoyed the spirit cheers and the roll call, as that was a fun process.

Armaan Bhasin, Brookfield Academy: It was my first time at state. I thought it was very fun and plan on going next year.

Chapter Updates

"Just installed the new officers for the 2023-2024 school year! Hopefully we'll be hosting an end-of-year Latin club celebration (possibly an Olympics themed thing)"

"The BAJCL did some really exciting things for Classics Week! We had Meme Monday, where we put classics-themed memes all over the school. Then was Where Pegasus Wednesday, where anyone in the school was able to look for a stuffed Pegasus doll and win a prize! Finally, for Rome's birthday on April 21, the BAJCL held a cakedecorating competition."

Chapter Updates

"Currently, DSHA is in the process of transitioning from the 2022-23 club board as elections were held last week for the 2324 school year. During the Easter season, the entire program also helped make cards for the residents at St. Anne's Retirement Facility. Also, a few months ago the entire program, by class, participated in tug-a-war against the French and Spanish classes. Many of our teams came out victorious, which boosted the moral and excitement throughout the program!"

For this section, I polled many people in the WJCL community to learn what they thought about certain topics involving Latin and similar Roman topics!
