2 Planholder guide

Letter from ted Dear Planholder, What a great holiday gift – the gift of NBA basketball. I’m extremely pleased that we are back on the court and taking the next strides as a franchise. It’s an exciting time for all of us, and I hope you share in that excitement.

Ted Leonsis

Majority Owner; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

It was great to read Tom Haberstroh’s ESPN Insider piece that ranked the Wizards No. 1 in terms of the five most promising franchises in rebuilding mode. We work diligently every day to not only improve our on-the-court performance but also our off-the-court business and connection with our fans, especially our plan holders. So thank you for playing an important part in our process. Many of you renewed your season tickets while others are either first-time plan holders or returning to the organization after an absence. We welcome all of you and look forward to seeing you at Verizon Center and various events throughout the season. Yes, there is work ahead of us, but we are aware of it and embrace it, and I’m excited and energized as we enter the 2011-12 season. We have a great player and person in John Wall. From Day 1 John was aware of our plan and strategy to rebuild the team, and he immediately embraced the concept. He is dedicated to improving his game as well as elevating the game of his teammates. It was great to see Nick Young, last year’s leading scorer, re-signed. Andray Blatche, Jordan Crawford, Rashard Lewis and JaVale McGee were all double-digit scorers last year. We have been lauded for this year’s draft class (Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton and Shelvin Mack), and in the past two years we have added six players to our roster who were first-round draft selections. We will continue to integrate our young talent and have supplemented it with some veteran leadership. We are well positioned for the future. I’m also pleased that our future will pay respect to our past. As you recall, we felt the incredible energy surrounding our return to the red, white and blue color scheme and the unveiling of our new team logos that look to our bright future while recognizing our important history. The overwhelmingly positive response from fans, players, alumni and media was exciting, and I’m sure you will notice the changes on the court and throughout the arena. I’m ecstatic that basketball is back and that you are with us. Enjoy the season, and I hope to see you at Verizon Center.

Sincerely,

Ted Leonsis
