Within Reach Global has been expanding and stepping out into new arenas that we never thought possible. We have been church planting among unreached people groups in village settings for over ten years, but now we have been able to help special needs children with surgeries, reach college students, and expand beyond the borders of China through the Ako Ay Pilipino Movement in the Philippines. All this has been done with your partnership. It is a team effort of the body of Christ, speeding the return of Jesus. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” ~2 Corinthians 5:17-18

In June, we heard about Li Yan through our coworkers at The Edge center near Myanmar. Since the age of one, Li Yan has had a life-threatening heart problem called Tetralogy of Fallot, an obstruction of blood flow pumping from her heart. If she did not get surgery soon she would have less than four years to live. Her parents are extremely poor and did not have the finances to pay for the surgery. We began putting the word out, and people generously jumped on board. Within Reach Global

We were excited to have most of the money raised, but upon hearing the doctors say there was only a fifty percent chance of survival through the surgery, let alone the long recovery, the family’s heart sunk. We called friends and intercessors to pray over Li Yan, and shared the gospel thoroughly with her family. Father, mother, grandmother, and even five year old Li Yan accepted Jesus as their personal Savior! Li Yan's surgery was not easy. She was the worst case in the whole heart department. But the Lord gave her another chance. She survived the surgery, and is now back home on the long road to

As you walk along any given street in southwest China, you will see adult sex shops and brothels operating openly. Fifty percent of all marriages end in divorce, and the meaning of true love has been obscured. China’s view of sex has rapidly changed in the last decade, and many young people are dabbling in premarital sex. Roughly twenty-five percent of young people who get married are still virgins. Our region is home to the highest percentage of AIDS cases, which is growing at a rate faster that many African nations. Recognizing the dire sexual situation in southwest China, in June, we hosted a seminar at The Hub on love courtship and sex within marriage. Thirty college students attended and were challenged to preserve themselves until marriage. “I have never heard a message like this before,” many of the students said. “Now I want to be pure until I find my spouse.” Since most of the students were not believers, it was a great opportunity to share the Agape kind of love with them as well. We are now implementing this message in all of the Within Reach Global centers. 1

“The monk is here!

That was the message we received when we arrived at the 26 Tribes center. God led us to preach the gospel to the highest ranking Buddhist monk in the whole region! Buddhist monks chanting during a Buddhist training that the Lord led us to.

The monk is here In June, we drove nine hours to the 26 Tribes center, found a hotel and got settled in. Most of us went up to our rooms, but Pastor Rich, a visiting pastor from America, walked down to the lobby to relax. While he was there, a woman approached him, and speaking perfect English (a rarity in this part of Asia), told him, "The monk is here! The monk is here!" Pastor Rich obviously had no idea what she was talking about, and thought it was a weird thing for her to say to a complete stranger. Suddenly the woman said she needed to go, and rushed out of the lobby. Pastor Rich followed her outside the door, but could not find her. She had disappeared, and was nowhere to be found. "Was that an angel?" Pastor Rich thought to himself. The next morning while we were having breakfast, Pastor Rich told us, "We need to find the most elite monk in this area today." Our response was simple: "Uh, okay." Because none of 2

were told to wait in his quarters. After reading the Buddhist scriptures and leading the young monks in their chanting, he would go there to rest.

The 26 Tribes region is bound by deep Buddhist beliefs, and their only hope is Jesus Christ. Pray that the seeds sown in this area will spring up into salvation. us really knew what was going to happen. By this time we were joined by a few of our Chinese co-workers, and all nine of us piled into the car. We drove three kilometers to a massive Buddhist temple that had recently been constructed. It was one of the biggest Buddhist temples in Asia, with a huge twenty story golden Buddha towering over the city. After talking photos, we decided to drive around the back side of the twenty story Buddha, up the mountain, and hike to a location higher than the idol. There we prayed over the city, breaking the spiritual strongholds of Buddhism.

"Let's go to a smaller Buddhist temple where all the young monks are trained," one of our co-workers suggested. So we drove another few kilometers to the Buddhist training center. There we saw over one hundred young monks chanting and praying as they read the Buddhist scriptures. The head monk was leading them in their chanting. Outside the temple grounds, banners waved in the wind. The Chinese and Thai characters read: "Celebrating the 50th birthday of Buddhist elder Khuba." Someone on our team said, "The monk is here! Look, it was his 50th birthday yesterday." We asked where we could find the elder monk, and

Thirty minutes later, Buddhist elder Khuba, the highest ranking Buddhist monk in all of 26 Tribes region, arrived and invited us up to his personal living quarters. A young monk entered the room, bowing to the floor in front of the elite elder monk Khuba. We realized his authority in the region. "Let's just start preaching," we decided, and Pastor Rich began to tell the monk the message that God had for him. Khuba allowed us to pray for him, blessing us and thanking us for sharing. He shook Pastor Rich's hand twice before we left rejoicing at the amazing opportunity to sow spiritual seeds into the most powerful monk in all of 26 Tribes region! We believe that the Buddhist world in the 26 Tribes region is about to experience the power of God like never before as Jesus is revealed in their lives. Within Reach Global

A recent underground training where over 50 local leaders learned about the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit move in government church

Medical care for special needs children

Co-workers convention

“The state church needs the Holy Spirit!” a pastor recently reported. It’s true. It is illegal to mention anything about the Holy Spirit, the resurrection of Jesus, the second coming, and even preaching the gospel message is highly illegal. So where does that leave us, except to rely on God and be bold about obeying His commands more than man’s regulations.

It is a daunting task when you realize the superfluous needs of handicapped children in Southeast Asia. We decided to take a stand.

We host quarterly co-workers conventions with our fourteen co-workers. What is the importance of these quarterly meetings you ask? It’s simple. The highest goal of missions is to work yourself out of a job, that is, to create an indigenous ministry that will operate with or without your presence.

In June, we drove nine hours to the 26 Tribes region, and through a series of miraculous events, were led to the highest ranking state-ordained Christian pastor in the area. At first he was quite leery of us, and we unsure of his position on missionaries as well. We have visited state churches in China where the pastor has openly proclaimed that he is not a Christian! But we boldly told him that we wanted to train local leaders on supernatural ministry that would lead to greater evangelistic efforts.

Li Yan has already undergone heart surgery, and the line of children who need help is getting longer. That’s a good problem to have as we are able to spread the love of Christ like never before.

The pastor quickly assembled over 30 Christian leaders, and our visiting pastor from America, Pastor Rich, taught about the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.

There is also a group of orphans five hours south of us who need heart and brain surgeries, among other simpler surgeries. But the government has barred any help from outsiders, saying that they can take care of the problems themselves. Indeed, they have the finances. That’s not the problem. The problem is that they are misusing the monies and not providing the care that these precious handicapped children need.

It was an amazing time of God’s presence in the 26 Tribes region. During the prayer time, the Holy Spirit fell on them. The presence was so strong that people started praying, crying and were slain in the spirit. After the meeting, the leader of the religious affairs invited us to come back again. “we need the Holy Spirit’s empowering,” He admitted. In September we will return to the church and he is organizing a big group from 24 different groups to learn more about the power of the Holy Spirit. We are excited about expanding into this new area. Within Reach Global

It has always been our heart to bless the spiritually and physically needy, and recently the Lord has led us to a number of special needs children who need medical attention.

Five year old Li Xiangrong has double club-foot, double club-hand, and multiple deformities. We decided to help him and his family, and he is now undergoing therapy. Within a few weeks a group of surgeons from Singapore will give him surgery to correct his club feet and hands. They have committed to provide this service for free!

Please pray that God would intervene and allow us access to provide medical care for these needy kids. Jesus said, “Whatever you do unto the least of these, you do unto me.” If you feel led to give to the medical needs of these children, you can be the only Jesus that these children may ever have.

This year has been a breakthrough one for us, as our local co-workers have risen to the task of church planting and reaching unreached people groups on their own. We feel confident that if we were to leave today, the ministry would continue in our absence. But at the same time, we are committed to empowering them with the skills needed to succeed in ministry. This December, at the Within Reach Global coworkers convention, we will be teaching these powerful young ministers how to expand their network of supporters, create newsletters, and challenge the Chinese Church to financially support the ministries that they are involved in. We want to set them up for success as we feel God leading us to bigger ministries around the globe. “At first I was wondering why I was sent to such a hard-to-reach area,” one of our co-workers testified. “But I am not worried anymore. Wherever I am sent, I will reach the lost. I have a passion to proclaim Jesus, and I appreciate learning the skills I need to have to reach them.” Within reach Global is growing and helping transform lives. We pray that you would be encouraged to play a part in these powerful life transformations as well. 3

The Philippines is the only Christian nation in the Far East, and we believe that it has a missionary-sending call to fulfilling the Great Commission. We published the Ako Ay Pilipino book last year, and it is being used to inspire Filipinos to understand their identity and destiny as seen in the light of the cross. The goal is to raise enough money to get this lifechanging book to as many Filipinos as possible. We have 3,000 books in Manila, ready to give away, but we need your pledges! Hurry! The days are counting down.

Prayer requests and financial needs

Dream big. You get what you Within Reach Global is growing and expanding into new areas settle for. That has always been that we never imagined possible. Now, new needs arise. in our hearts, and just recently Lorna had another big dream. • Pray for our health and protection. “I feel like God is going to open a door to speak to President Aquino about the Ako Ay Pilipino Movement,” she said one morning. We believe that President Aquino won the May 2010 elections to prepare the way for a sweep of righteousness that leads to the fulfillment of God’s promises for the Philippines. Within Reach Global is well connected to high-ranking politicians in Manila, and we hope to share the vision of Ako Ay Pilipino, that God has a destiny for the nation.

• We need a quality digital SLR camera to document unreached people groups being reached. We are looking at the Canon 550D which has video capabilities. • Please pray that the Ako Ay Pilipino Kickstarter would be successful. We still have over 3,000 books that need to be passed out to future Filipino heroes. • Pray for wisdom as we consider splitting our time between China and the Philippines for greater impact.
