Answering some questions in The Hans India, Ananya shed some light on some of the personal experience through the journey. She said that she trains for 6-7 hours on a daily basis which is way more than what is standard for a gymnast to practice on a daily basis.

When she turned 10 years old, that was when she started training professionally under Anna while she was in Moscow. In India though, she trains on her own and stays in constant touch with Anna via Skype to get the necessary guidance that she needs from time to time.

When asked what drew her to gymnastics, she had a very simple answer to that. Ananya saw some a six-year old attempting to do gymnastics when she was in Grade I and with the inquisitiveness into it, she asked her mother if she could do the same. While her mother was a bit skeptical in the beginning, it was Ananya’s passion that made her mother put her into the professional classes.

When asked about her diet, Ananya said that she does have a very strict diet. She isn’t allowed to eat fats and carbohydrates and consume a very limited amount of food throughout the day as well. She says that her mother is the one who manages her nutrition and given that she doesn’t have cravings for junk food, she doesn’t face issues with that as well.

She reflected some insights on her training journey too suggesting that the training in Hyderabad that she got was very on an off. It was until the visit from Olga Kontos from Belarus in Hyderabad that she got her very first professional training in this field and she believes that was what the turning point was. Ananya has never subsidized her education as a secondary thing which is why she tries and manages both of them very efficiently. According to her, she does learn a lot faster when she listens to the classes. Her school is also very supportive of her talent and pushes her do better with every single competition that she participates in.
