Reviews Dr William Davis wrote the book "Wheat Belly" and I think he did an excellent job. I had often wondered why parents prior to 1960 were slim and in good health as a rule. The average waist on a man was 34" . The scentists changed the chromosomes on wheat from 14 to 34!! This increased the crop size 7 or 8 times and was suppose to cure hunger in the world. The wheat was introduced into the food supply chain without any testing for human consumption...this lead to obesity, cancer, dementia, etc. and I think the wheat was the major cause. There is only 1 chromosome difference between a man and a woman and to increase a grain's chromsones 20 points has got to create problems.. The book "Wheat Belly" has a few recipes but this book gives you another 150 recipes to replace wheat with other food sources in your diet...good stuff...you will enjoy the food and live a healthier life...this is exciting!

Since wheat products are in a majority of foods that the average person is accustomed to eating, it was a challenge to find wholesome gluten free food products when I first started my Gluten Free Diet. The Wheat Belly Cookbook contained 150 inspiring recipes to help a person lose their wheat belly and keep it off - deliciously! The cookbook provided simple techniques and ingredient swaps along with shopping advice and a pantry guide to create delicious wheat-free versions of a person's favorite foods. i.e. cakes, pies, breads, muffins, and more that you thought you would have to give up forever.

This coobook has a good summary of the Wheat Belly book then goes on to provide some recipes for very tastey wheatless meals. Yes, food can taste exquisitely good without wheat. Making your own meals from scratch is a new and relaxing way to a great meal too. So, the benefits are also psychological as well as physical. I haven't foound my favorite recipe just yet but I'm working on it.

This book has definitely prompted a lifestyle change for the better in our home. It takes a little while to fully adjust to new flavors, textures and to adapt the recipes according to taste, but it's worth the effort. I didn't begin this diet to lose weight, rather to help with auto-immune related inflammation and pain. After a month, it is beginning to pay off - swelling is reduced and a nice consequence: 2 months later I'm down 15 pounds. If any form of wheat comes back in my diet now, i notice the effects almost instantly. Really informative, especially about the interplay with blood sugar. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
