Just when she's about to be reunited with Percy—after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera—it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo's fantastical creation doesn't appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace. And that's only one of her worries. In her pocket Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving demand: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find—and close—the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her? Annabeth's biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he's now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader, but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side. Narrated by four different demigods, The Mark of Athena is an unforgettable journey across land and sea to Rome, where important discoveries, surprising sacrifices, and unspeakable horrors await. Climb aboard the Argo II, if you dare...
Reviews Fans of Percy Jackson and the Olympians were kept busy and on their toes the day this book came out. From the much anticipated Percy/Annabeth reunion to the shattering end, it's impossible to put this book down. Rick Riordan has, by this time, mastered the elements of making a reader go through the whole spectrum of emotions available to humanity. Literally. Laughing, crying, gasping in fear, shock, more laughing, some more crying... It never stops and the book is so wonderfully written, so fast-paced, so exciting that you don't want it to. And of course the character development in this book goes through the roof. It is impossible not to appreciate all of the characters for at least one reason after reading this book- each of the seven half-bloods The Mark of Athena follows has a part to play in the book, and each played it well. Rick Riordan has built characters specifically so that they clash when meeting, has softened up harshness and created the most debatable love triangle the fandom's ever been faced with. Even old characters, ones we thought we knew like the backs of our hands, are growing and changing right under out eyes. And it nearly goes without saying, but must be mentioned, that the modern ties with Greek mythology in Rick Riordan's book were wonderful, the story was hilarious and memorable, the action was exciting, and the plot was about as unexpected as Christmas in July. Particularly the ending that fans are still complaining about.
Rick riordon makes a spinoff series from the heroes of olympas it has some of the same characters, Percy Jackson, Annebeth, chiron, tyson, nico and the hellhound mrs. o leary. It also has a lot of differant characters with one big prophacy that was mentioned in the first series. I read The mark of athena by Rick Riordon. I thought it was amazing. theres 7 main characters instead of one. its the third book in the series. it takes place in the present after the greek and roman camps more or less tried to unite but a spirit took over leos body (he's from the 1st book in the series.) and makes him fire on the roman camp causing the 7 demigods to have to run/fly away to greece. they bonded throughout the journey not without a couple roadblocks though. I'd recamend this book to percy jackson fans and anyone who likes anything to do with greek myths. just about anyone can read it. even if you havent heard of the percy jackson series you'll love it. i really liked the book and i think you will too.
Fans of Rick Riordan and his Heroes of Olympus series can rest easy, for this intense, action packed third book,
The Mark of Athena, is not one to disappoint. Expectant readers will be happy to know that with the demigods from the Greek camp and the Roman camp meeting up, this series becomes even more engrossing. The prophecy spoke of seven demigods, fated to foil the sinister plans of the daughter of Chaos, Gaia. In this miraculous journey, these seven robust and compelling characters have finally been assembled. Setting out for Rome, they must find a way to unearth the Mark of Athena in order to prevent the two camps from going into all out war. Percy, Annabeth, Piper and Leo alternate as narrators in this epic adventure where they will have to muster courage in order to face their greatest fears. With a tension-filled plot and seamless weaving of mythology into a modern day setting, it will be hard to put this book down before finishing it. Anyone that loves thrilling, plot intensive, mythological fiction will read this book and still be hungry for more.
The Mark of Athena by Rick Rhordon, is the third book in this fantasy series. This series involves the well known demigods Percy Jackson and Annabeth from the Lightning Thief. This series continues from the ending of “The Last Olympian. This book is about the Prophecy of 7 demigods chosen from the Greek camp and now the newly introduced Roman camp to stop the reawakening of the Earth Goddess Gaea. They embark on many exciting and unreal journeys. They go from meeting Hercules to fighting the water titan to going to forsaken land. My favorite part of the book is the fight between Percy and Jason vs. the two giant twins because it takes a demigod and a god to defeat a giant and the god who joins them almost lets Jason and Percy die trying to prove their worth to him so he could help them. The god eventually joins and they destroy the giants with ease. I recommend this book to people who love Greek mythology and also want to continue reading about Percy’s adventures. This book has a lot of suspense because of the near death experiences that the 7 demigods have. This book has a lot of adventure because of all the epic journeys the demigods have.
