Click Here to Download the Book FBI Special Agent Kate O'Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world's most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she's cared about is Nicolas Fox--an international crook she wants in more ways than one. Audacious, handsome, and dangerously charming, Nicolas Fox is a natural con man, notorious for running elaborate scams on very high-profile people. At first he did it for the money. Now he does it for the thrill. He knows that the FBI has been hot on his trail—particularly Kate O'Hare, who has been watching his every move.

Reviews I really like Janet Evanovich, so when I received this book for review I couldn't wait to get stuck into it... Kate O'Hare is a tough FBI special agent and ex-Navy SEAL, so she's pretty badass. For the last five years she's become obsessed with busting a tricky con man. Nick Fox is a con artist, thief and international fugitive. He's also charming, very good looking, and frustrating because he manages to slip away every time it looks like he's been captured. So when Nick escapes a courthouse and Kate's taken off the case she takes matters into her own hands and with some time off and a little help from her former military father, tracks Nick down to a remote island in Greece. But what she finds is something she never expected--the FBI has recruited Nick, and for the next five years he'll help them catch other high profile bad guys. And Kate's teaming up with him. Their first case is to locate an investment banker who swindled millions of dollars and is hiding out on a remote island in Indonesia. As Nick comes up with a plan guaranteed to get them results, he builds an eclectic team of talented misfits with their own reasons for wanting the job. Everything goes according to plan, but the more time Kate spends with Nick, the more she realizes he's not all that bad. He's smart, full of brilliant--yet sneaky--ideas, and seems to really care about his team. Still, she's got a job to do and nothing's going to stop her, because being a honey trap might be the hardest role she's had to play yet. This adventurous and super fun book is told in several POVs so the reader can grasp all sides of what's going on. Each POV throws the reader deeper into the plot, but still leaves plenty of surprises. The Heist is an exciting, intriguing and entertaining book that kept me hooked from start to finish. It's got classic Evanovich characterization and witty dialogue, with a touch of seriousness that her other two series don't have. It's also filled with master plans, government secrets, and bad guys with big ideas. I really enjoyed it!

An ARC of this was sent to me by Random House Publishing for an honest review. I initially read 10 pages and

decided I needed to wait a bit. I KNEW this was NOT going to be a Stephanie Plum novel…and I had listened to one and read one of Lee Goldberg’s Monk books, so I was hesitant, to say the least. (The monk books just didn’t resonate much for me.) Then I picked it up about a week later and read from the beginning to 22 pages and decided yet once again I needed to wait. Whew! I just wanted to be certain I would not set myself up for disappointment by expecting a nook similar to the Plum series...and it took a bit to get that out of my head before I felt I could be fair and objective with this new series. Then I had a “break” in my “must-reads” and determined I was now ready…and I was pleasantly surprised! Quite frankly, I discovered more twists and turns to this book than I expected, and that’s a good thing! I really liked the interactions between Kate and her father, Jake. They are definitely two of a kind! And…they make me laugh and chuckle! I like the idea of making the protagonist an FBI agent who then must work with the ultimate con man who she just happens to have been chasing f-o-r-e-v-e-r, in a major sting operation to recover $500,000! Having read every book Evanovich has ever written, except two, I could definitely detect her writing style, yet with some differences, which I would attribute to Goldberg. Admittedly, this made me feel good, since I don’t always feel that is true when authors team up with co-writers. The story rather reminded me of the old TV show Mission Impossible in certain ways. Nick is the one character I am still figuring out. I actually started liking him about 3/4 through; let's just say he seems complex! Obviously, he's a better fighter than Kate thought he was, and it does seem as if he might really care about Kate, though who knows? He is a mastermind criminal, after all! I expected to be very disappointed, and was not at all, in fact, although I didn’t find this book/series to be nearly as laugh-out-loud funny as the Plum books, it was very enjoyable and I anxiously anticipate the next one…and many more. Perhaps more Evanovich-type humor will find its way into some future installments!
