The Heist Audiobook by Janet Evanovich

Click Here to Download the Book FBI Special Agent Kate O'Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world's most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she's cared about is Nicolas Fox--an international crook she wants in more ways than one. Audacious, handsome, and dangerously charming, Nicolas Fox is a natural con man, notorious for running elaborate scams on very high-profile people. At first he did it for the money. Now he does it for the thrill. He knows that the FBI has been hot on his trail—particularly Kate O'Hare, who has been watching his every move.

Reviews This is the first in a new fun series – and I can tell you I was hooked from the opening page. FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is dedicated to her job – and to chasing international con artist Nicolas Fox. After years of chasing Nicholas, who happens to be charming and very sexy, she finally captures him and finally has him behind bars. But then Nicolas pulls off his greatest con of all time – he convinces the FBI to offer him a job – and ends up working alongside Kate, despite her reservations and growing attraction to the man. Their first case is to find the half billion that has been stolen by a corrupt investment banker, transfer the money to the FBI and put the crook behind bars. This is a read that will have you laughing out loud while you read it, with your tongue firmly stuck in your cheek. The characters are superb. Kate O’Hare is a woman who is more comfortable with a rocket launcher than wearing a bikini, but is definitely smart, sexy and kicks butt. Nicholas Fox is handsome, funny and resourceful – and always manages to be one step ahead of everyone else him, even if only by the skin of his teeth. The sexual chemistry between the pair is hot, hot, hot – now made worse that they have to work together and their relationship needs to remain professional. This isn’t quite as bonkers as the Stephanie Plum series that Janet Evanovich is famous for, but I think perhaps there is more tension, and more action, than her other series. It still has all the trademark elements of an Evanovich book, however – lots of funny one liners, explosions, twists and turns, and simmering tension between the two main protagonists – along with an engaging cast of supporting characters. The ultimate escapist read.

Oh my! Another wonderful set of characters, another hopefully on-going series and I have to say I am Hooked! The Heist isn’t Stephanie Plum by a long-shot but in some ways it’s better. I loved the story line, the wisecracks and I have a feeling soon all Janet fans will be casting this as a movie, too. Special agent Kate O’Hare has only one thing on her mind – arresting Nick Fox, grifter extraordinaire. Nick is behind some of the world’s most well thought out heists and she misses him by a hair every time. Some would call her obsessed. She would agree.

She finally gets her man only to find out he’s joined the FBI and is her new partner! Their job is to hunt down corporate thieves, corrupt bankers, etc in hiding and get back the money they stole. Putting the bad guy behind bars is an extra benefit. Nick finds a team. Willie who can drive anything you give her. Boyd the zealous actor and others make up the hilarity and good deeds in this tale. It reminds me a bit of “Leverage” and, while everyone was good I especially liked Willie (DDs, sassy, no license to drive/fly/pilot boat necessary) – she was a total hoot! So go get this one but first get hold of Pros and Cons; the short story that takes us into Kate and Nick’s world.
