The Amateur Nook Edition by Edward Klein

Click Here to Download the Book It's amateur hour at the White House. So says New York Times bestselling author Edward Klein in his new political expose The Amateur. Tapping into the public's growing sentiment that President Obama is in over his head, The Amateur argues that Obama's toxic combination of incompetence and arrogance have run our nation and his presidency off the rails. "Obama was both completely inexperienced and ideologically far to the left of Americans when he entered the White House," says Klein. "And he was so arrogant that he didn't even know what he didn't know." Klein, who is known for getting the inside scoop on everyone from the Kennedys to the Clintons, reveals never-beforepublished details about the Obama administration's political inner workings and about Barack and Michelle's personal lives.

Reviews Any reader who picks up this book won't be able to put it down. The book makes you feel like you work in the oval office. You will learn what makes the President tick. You will learn who really pulls the strings behind the scenes. He tells this story in a series of little stories about how the President works with regards to various supporters, on National Security, and other things. Through this series of stories you will learn certain facts that the press missed or omitted on purpose. This is a great read that flows like a mountain stream. This book is written by NY Times Edward Klein. He interviewed over 200 people for the book. A few of these witnesses are named, some are not. Some of the witnesses are people from the news too. To hear what they hear these people have to be very highly placed in the corridors of power. Mr. Klein also interjects information from various press accounts and other books about President Obama. That information along with the witness accounts gives you an inside account to the man, President Obama and the why behind certain events. The last chapter talks about the election strategy which will be used by both sides this fall. As I read that and the rest of the book I had to keep reading the author's bio. I couldn't believe a NY Times writer would write this. It reads like something from the American Spectator but it isn't. It seemed to be the facts to the story were so overwhelming even the NY Times couldn't ignore it.

"The Amateur" is easy to read, especially for a current events book. Klein writes in a breezy style that anyone can enjoy, without getting bogged down in countless footnotes or references to obscure events. Barack Obama is described by those who knew, or know him, as "callow, thin-skinned" and "arrogant" among other things. Klein tells how Michelle Obama ended up keeping Oprah out OF The White House because she is overweight and is seen as a poor role model. Obama is also described as being uninterested in the actual day-to-day duties of being President. He prefers giving speeches to twisting arms in Congress or having to negotiate with his opponents. You'll see why Bill Clinton hates Obama and how he encouraged Hillary to challenge him in the 2012 Democratic primary. Klein is a former foreign editor at Newsweek magazine, former editor-in-chief at New York Times Magazine, and editor at Vanity Fair, and is the author of numerous bestsellers.

A quick read. I downloaded this on my Kindle right before takeoff. For 3 hours later we were landing and I couldn't believe I did not even finish my beverage. Not usually a fan of political opinions, but this was different. Most of the people interviewed used to be supporters of Obama and over the years have developed interesting opinions. The book is filled with stories of rudeness, ignorance and depicts the President as an amateur. It is one thing to make a mistake and learn from it. It is a completely different thing to repeatedly make the same mistake. With the election coming up- a must read for everyone. Remember, get your news from several sources. Read, read and read and once you have gathered the facts formulate your own opinion and views.
