Reviews I am living proof that this diet works. I am only in the first cycle and I have lost 17 pounds! Eleven pounds in the first week. Some naysayers chalk it up to water loss-some even call this kind of rapid weight-loss unhealthy, but this diet is designed to quickly get you on to a more healthy lifestyle. Dr. Mike has made this deit affective and easy-to-follow. The first days are pretty tough, only because you are completely riding your body of all of its ususal processed foods and sugars. And it is just difficult learning to substitute all of the junk we eat for healthy choices. However, this diet has been the only thing that has made me able to lose weight like this-and I feel GOOD! I have energy (a week and a half in), and I am not hungry on this diet. Cycle One is definitely a radical change from what I am used to. I am a heavy eater, and carbs consist of 70% of my usual diet, so cutting them out was shocking. The only thing that gets you through the first days is the fact that you aren't hungry because you are constantly eating and drinking water and green tea (you get used to the tea) and you immediately see results. It isn't even the weight-loss that encourages me to write this review. I am so happy with myself for doing this diet, and proving to myself that I have this kind of control. Being happy with oneself is also a huge motivator when it comes to shedding pounds, and Dr. Mike's book does that. My goal is 40 pounds in the next two months from the start of this diet, and I am already nearing my half-way mark. This book is a success! success! success! Follow the rules, prove to yourself that you can follow this thing to the end, and you will see immediate results and you will love yourself for doing this. I didn't know my scale could drop so quickly.
This book changed my life! I bought the book here and started the diet just under 3 months ago. It's easy to follow and has all but eliminated my sugar cravings which were sabatoging my diet. I am down 28 pounds with 15 to go and I feel amazing! I have been on a lot of diets including weight watchers, nutrasystem and others. This has by far been the most effective and healthy. As a cardiac nurse I can now say that I "practice what I preach" about healthy lifestyle! This is no fad diet, it's a life style and a life changer! A million "thank yous" to Dr Moreno!
I am thrilled with this diet and lost more weight than I had ever hoped or expected to. I went through the first 3 stages of the book twice and have lost 25 pounds. I went from a size 8/10 to a 2 and I have to admit, the 2's are loose. I have never been a size small on my bottom half but now I am. I still keep a food journal and am still losing weight. I chose the 17 Day Diet because I know that I need instant results in order to motivate me. Who wants to diet and not lose weight ? Any of those "lose a pound a week" diets wouldn't have worked for me because I can gain a pound just with a big lunch ! Because I did not want to be discouraged right out the gate, I followed the first 17 days very strictly but did not weigh myself until the end. When I did weigh myself, I had lost 8 pounds. This pattern continued with each stage although I did start to weigh myself regularly so I could more closely monitor my progress, make changes if I gained weight, and celebrate when I lost weight. There were several plateaus but just stick with it, you will
get past the plateau and keep losing weight. This diet has re-taught me how to eat. Fortunately, I do like yoghurt, kefir, steamed veggies, fish, chicken, and turkey (burgers). You will learn to appreciate the taste of the foods themselves when they are served simply with a few spices but no sauces. I had always worried that it would be hard to diet and still feed the rest of the family -- but this is not an issue at all. If I'm making fish and veggies, or flank steak and asparagus, I just make rice or potatoes for my hubby but not for me. Another thing I had worried about in the past is "how do I diet and eat out ?" I do not believe that one should become unsociable just because you are on a diet. I have found that if you look hard enough, you can find something suitable on every menu. Even a burger joint will usually have a turkey burger that you can just take the bun off and substitute a salad for the fries (and then sneak a couple of fries off of someone else's plate). I have learned to eat my carbs, if they are whole grain carbs, in the morning or early afternoon so you can burn through them. I believe I have switched to a more European style of eating where my lunch is a larger meal than dinner. Anyways, I can't say enough good things. The diet is very simple, requires no calorie counting, provides results and long-term tools to continue to eat healthy. I am confident I will keep the weight off because I am now "retrained" on how to eat. Highly, highly recommended !
