Mercy Thompson’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman—the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack—has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They’ve all been abducted. Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.
Reviews One of the best Mercy Thompson books yet and they've all been good. This was a great read. For the first time, we got a little insight into Adam's point of view and it was great. Once again, Mercy is going about her business when her world turns upside down. As usual, she rises to the occasion and proves herself a worthy heroine and one of my personal favorites. River Marked was just a little "off" to me. Still a good read, just not as good as the other Mercy Thompson books. However, Frost Burned is... many different kinds of awesome! We got to see a little creepier side of the vampires. Although Bran and Charles did not show up, Bran sent someone to help Adam's pack and Mercy. I love to see the relationships within the pack. That is one of the most fun things about this series. But the romance between Adam and Mercy... very hot! I loved every minute of it. The fae were there in a limited capacity since they've declared war on the humans and are hiding in the "reservation" areas. The former garage owner's son showed up and was a lot of help eventually. I think he has some issues, most probably due to his being half fae. Adam is awesome. This book elevated him to a true hero status in my estimation. That is mostly due to his insight because we got to see his intelligence and what he was thinking. The vampires... it's hard to say how I feel about them right now. I don't even trust Mercy's former vampire friend anymore. It will be interesting to see where the next book goes and... once again, I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I'm also a big fan of the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs. These books are some great reading if you like paranormal romance. Frost Burned is as good as the last Alpha and Omega book. I don't see how Patricia Briggs can top this but... I hope she continues to write these wonderful stories. Mercy Thompson is my favorite heroine, my absolute fav!
And Adam... well... he's an awesomely hot alpha. Definitely at the top of my werewolf list!
In the newest book in Patricia Briggs wildly popular Urban fantasy series, Mercy Thompson , VW mechanic, shape shifting walker, and wife of the city’s alpha werewolf is out at midnight on Black Friday with her stepdaughter when she’s involved in a car accident. Soon after she finds that not only can’t she get a hold of anyone from the pack on her cell phone, but her mate bond with her husband is being blocked as well. She tries to get her stepdaughter to safety and then to go find her mate and their pack, but finds instead rogue government agents and hired mercenaries have taken her husband and the pack by force, knocking them out with a secret drug that only the werewolves know about. Mercy must be smart, deadly and ruthless as she tries to keep her stepdaughter and others out of these killers’ hands. But that is only the tip of the ice-burg, and she finds herself in the middle of the lethal politics of a vampire territorial battle, and in the cross hairs of fae assassins. All in all, the usual for one of my favorite heroines, and Ms. Briggs doesn’t disappoint. Her characters are ever evolving, entertaining and can change allegiances in the blink of an eye. Her plot is sharp and quick, and the world she has written pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. I lost a lot of sleep reading this book into the wee hours of the night.
It was a lovely thanksgiving dinner with the werewolf pack. Mercy and her new teenage daughter decided to start black Friday shopping. Something happened to her car and she needed to get a hold of her mate Adam. She calls... no answer. Then calls other pack members... no answer. It turns out the whole pack was kidnapped by some unknown group. Adam was being blackmailed into killing a politician or his pack would die one by one. Now, if you're into the Mercy Thompson series you should know that doesn't fly with Mercy. She grabs her daughter along with a few other recurring character and pretty much kicks butt the whole book. What really caught me off guard when reading was a chapter that said "Adam" on top. Before continuing I thought to myself "Oh. My. God. Tell me this is Adams point of view!" After the first sentence of the chapter I was bursting with joy! We finally get to see how Adam thinks, why he does certain actions, how he really feels when he's with Mercy, how much love they both have together... IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL! This book has more romance then all the other books combined. More kissing, cuddling, and cuteness between Adam and Mercy. You see them become a real couple and it's so interesting to watch. The plot is amazing. I was hooked on every page and couldn't put it down. It's so hard to grasp how Mercy is alive so far. She puts herself in SO much danger it's insane how lucky she is to come out of it. I'm actually glad she has cuts, bruises and broken bones because it makes her a relatable character. She's not super woman and has weaknesses. What I like about her is she makes smart decisions and doesn't run in on danger because she can. That's how I feel other books are... the character just does a stupid action and then they automatically become too stupid too live. Mercy is too lucky to live. It's fine though, I still love her!
