Reviews Have you ever heard of the White House or Washington being overrun by vampires or some type of supernatural creature? Or about how the Roman, Grecian architecture had such a profound impact on the founding fathers of this nation almost three centuries ago? Sounds almost…impossible huh? Well, the first is impossible because vampires don’t exist. In my mind anyways, but the rest? Well, its true and has been proven by the amazing author Dan Brown who wrote The DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons and the book I am reviewing now, The Lost Symbol. The reason that I enjoy reading his work so much is because personally, I am a fan of history such as the kind that he portrays in his books. I love anything to do with ancient history and would jump at the chance to learn more about it. Hence the reason I am going to tell you all about this amazing book. As I already mentioned, this book has to do with the history of America’s capital: Washington D.C and the supposed secret that has been hidden under the cornerstone of the Washington Monument. It has been said in the Ancient Mysteries (which are elaborated more in the book) that the Mysteries are what will save this world from some apocalyptic meltdown. The Mysteries are what the nation was founded on and what the world will eventually end on. In the book, the protagonist, Robert Langdon, is summoned to the capital to give a lecture on the history of the nation and what the nation was founded on, which was mostly European culture. Don’t believe me? Research it. Well, long story short, the Ancient Mysteries are brought up and the wild goose chase ensues. Well more like the wild-murderer-who-wants-to-destroy-the-world-chase ensues. Robert and his friend Katherine are desperately truing to stop the monster who wants the secret of the mysteries for his own personal gain as well as to “save the world.” Let it be known that he obviously has a twisted mind and seems to view the saving of the world to be something that would inevitably ruin it.

The Lost Symbol is an eduring adventure to try to find the "lost symbol". Robert Langdon tries to find this symbol that is more abstract then he thought. He is moved to find it to try and save his friend and mentor Peter Soloman. In the end, Langdn realizes that useing the Masonic encrypted clues he had the symbol after all. The quality of this fine piece of lititure is exelent, because it makes the reader think and use different parts of the brain to try and solve the mysterious maze to decode the lost symbol. It may take a while to under stand the puzzles but the more you think the better the understanding becomes. The theme of this book is mystery, and understanding the human mind. Here is a quote of the LOST SYMBOL it self “To live in the world without becoming aware of the meaning of the world is like wandering about in a great library without touching the books.” It can put you in a suspencful mindset if you are into mystry and thrillers. you can tell something is going to happen, but you can't tell weather or not it will be a horriable or a well round event. Expecially if you look at his other pieces of work. You have in "Angels and Demons" the one who killed the pope and tried to take over the church ended up being the popes' one and only son.

The Lost Symbol was excellent. If you have already read Dan Brown this story will not disappoint. Our friend

Robert Langdon is once again forced to use his expertise in symbols to unlock secrets. This time these secrets center around Washington D.C. and all the treasures America's forefathers have left for us. If you have not read any of Robert Langdon's adventures this is not a bad place to start. Robert does mention his adventures in the Da Vinci Code but it is only in passing and does not in any way hinder your understanding of this plot. The Lost Symbol is very fast-paced story which combines ancient Masonic lore with cutting edge Noetic science and leaves you desperately reading (or listening) into the late hours as you cheer for, pray for, or love to hate the amazing characters. In this story, our friends might not be our friends, our enemies might not be enemies, and nothing is as it seems. Not even the buildings at the very heart of our country. As Robert tries to solve this mystery, you will follow him around, under and above Washington D.C. into spaces I now want to visit. I want to tell you more, but I refuse to ruin anything. I will say that while I listened to most of this on audio, I also had the pleasure of skimming through the illustrated edition which has fantastic pictures of many of the locations and symbols mentioned in the story. Even the regular paperback version has many of the symbols Robert uses to figure out where he is headed next. When you are finished we can talk without spoiling anything.
