Reviews I didn’t feel like that much happened in the first half of the book with everything and everyone moving in position for the end, but the second half sure packed a hell of a punch. I’m still sort of uncertain about the ending, but at the same time loved it and it honestly made me ball my eyes out – extremely emotional ending, concluding the journey of characters that I had come to love. I think that CC took quite a brave route with the way she finished the book, I think it was a risk, but it also paid off in the emotional response it got from me as the reader. I can imagine there will be readers who could be unhappy with the way it finished, either in the outcome or in the way it was done, which is perhaps why I felt a little uncertain with it, but in the end it had me crying and feeling emotional about the characters, so really that’s a success for the author. I also loved how it came full circle to tie back into the Mortal Instruments series, that was very well done and I hadn’t expected the way in which she did that, so that was great. It made me want to go and reread the Mortal Instruments so I could refresh my memory on what happened in that series as well. It was an emotional journey and an adventure, and a great conclusion to a wonderful trilogy of books. Packed with surprises and wonderful moments that as a reader you can’t help but enjoy.
There are no words to express this book. I can try and keep deleting this again and trying again and again but never will words capture the beauty of the hidden world behind the streets of London. It will make you cry hot tears and laugh aloud. I can't begin to describe my obsession with the book, to be able to just sink into the words on the page. The stories of Tessa, Will, Jem, Charlotte, Henry, Jessamine, Cecily, Gabriel, Sophie, Gideon and more just left me awestruck with the incredible beauty of it all. Again and again will I read this book until the pages are ripped and torn and the words smudged black against the pages. It has so many emotions painted in the book. Happiness, bitterness, fear, anxiety, joy, excitement.
This is the book series that has stolen so many of my hours. I am down that the series is complete and yet astonished. Cassandra Clare is a brilliant author who truly breathes life into the characters and I just cannot help but believe in these characters, feel as if there are real shadowhunters out there protecting us. This book will leave you speechless with the stress of automatons and the life of the nephilim (sorry, I can't spell that right) themselves. I hope that this bestseller becomes huger than it is so I can share my sorrows and laughter with another book nerd (okay, wait-I still have a life apart from this book. Point is that it's almost always on my mind :P) that cannot help but be totally in love with this book.
Never in all my years of reading have I actually cried while reading a book. Not only did Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Princess tug at the heartstrings, but I had tears streaming down my face as I read the last few pages. The final novel in the Infernal Devices trilogy (a prequel trilogy to The Mortal Instruments) is so beautifully written that I honestly believe that if you can read it and not at least want to cry you may need to talk to someone. This stunning conclusion finds Tessa, Will, James and all the others at the Shadowhunter’s London Institute battling not only their trilogy long foe but someone from within their own organization. The group bands together to try to save their loved ones and seemingly the rest of the world whether the like it or know it or not. My favorite descriptor line comes from the Infernal Devices site: “If the only way to save the world was to destroy what you loved most, would you do it?” This question leads these characters down some very interesting trails and storylines. All I can say is that they make decisions that I’m pretty sure I would never want to make and they’re much younger than I am now. Warlock Magnus Bane – the only character who has been in every single shadow hunter novel to date – is by far one of the most intriguing characters I’ve ‘met’ lately. And having just discovered that there is a whole series of Bane Chronicles that will be released as short stories starting next week with What Really Happened in Peru so we can get even more Magnus in our lives makes me very happy. Reviewers note: As I was in the process of posting this review, I came across the following announcement from Page to Premiere’s Facebook page: Looks like in addition to the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie due out this August, we’re also going to get the Infernal Devices: Clockwork Angel too! yay!
