The Graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science (Level 7) is designed for you if you wish to pursue further study in the area of sport and exercise science. This programme will help you to pursue a career in the sport and exercise science area or it can be used to complement your first degree with specific sports and exercise science knowledge and skills. You may also wish to use this programme as a pathway into the suite of postgraduate programmes offered by the School of Sport and Exercise Science. Candidates are also provided with grounding in Sport and Exercise Science research, and may elect to complete a research project as part of their studies.

ENTRY CRITERIA Candidates are required to be a degree graduate from a New Zealand Institution or an approved and accredited institution overseas, or be able to demonstrate appropriate equivalent practical, professional or educational experience. Where necessary, candidates will be required to submit supporting evidence on their qualification or a transcript from NZQA stating the equivalence of their qualification. Candidates whose first language is neither English nor Ma-ori are required to have an IELTS score of 6.0 or better in the academic module, with at least 5.5 in the written band, or equivalent. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION You will study at Wintec’s School of Sport and Exercise Science which is located at the Avalon Campus. The laboratories are fully equipped and accredited with Sport Science New Zealand and are amongst New Zealand’s best sport science facilities. As a student, you will have access to ‘state of the art’ sport testing and consulting, as used by national and international athletes. GRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES The Graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science may lead to employment in sport, fitness and recreation organisations, recreation centres, sport trusts, educational institutions, and sport medicine and physiotherapy clinics as managers, coaches, consultants, performers, lecturers, trainers and rehabilitation therapists.
