These regulations should be read in conjunction with the Institute’s Academic Regulations, clause 2 General Programme Regulations. 1. Transition Arrangements This programme replaces the Diploma in Technology (Built Environment). Candidates who have completed or partially completed the Diploma in Technology (Built Environment) will be eligible for transfer of credit towards this programme: see section 3.2 of these regulations. 2. Admission and Entry 2.1. Candidates are required to have gained:     

a minimum of 48 credits towards the NCEA Level 2 in four subjects, including a total of at least 12 credits in English and 12 credits in a combination of algebra and trigonometry, or New Zealand sixth form certificate in at least three subjects, with a grade of 5 or better in each subject (including English and mathematics), or New Zealand Trade Certificate in Carpentry or the National Certificate in Carpentry, or Be able to demonstrate equivalent industry knowledge and skills, or the Wintec Certificate in Technology (Level 4) or equivalent foundation programme

2.2. Alternatively, candidates who do not meet the above entry requirements may be granted entry into the programme after an interview to determine reasonable likelihood of success in the programme. Recommendations and/or requirements around supplementary learning or entry requirements may be made on an individual basis. 2.3. Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in the written band. 3. Transition and Transfer of Credit 3.1 Formal and informal transfer of credit is available for this programme. Candidates must consult with the Team Manager. 3.2 Candidates previously enrolled in the Diploma in Technology (Built Environment) will be eligible to receive transfer of credit for the modules listed in the following table:

4. Programme Requirements 4.1. Every candidate for the National Diploma in Quantity Surveying (Level 6) shall to the satisfaction of the Academic Board follow a programme of study for a period of normally not less than four semesters. 4.2. Each candidate’s programme will comprise compulsory and elective modules, totalling a minimum of 235 credits, as listed in section 8 of these regulations as follows: 4.2.1.Candidates are required to complete all the modules in Group A. 4.2.2.In addition, candidates are required to complete modules from Group B totalling a minimum of 20 credits. 4.3. Candidates are required to attend a minimum of 80% of the total teaching hours in each year of the programme. 5. Progress through the Programme Candidates are required to successfully complete all Year One modules before proceeding to Year Two. 6. Completion of the Programme

A candidate may take up to five years to complete this programme unless an extension is granted by special permission of the Head of School/Centre Director. 7. Assessment Assessment in this programme is competency based, therefore, aegrotat consideration is not available. 8. Award of the Qualification Candidates who successfully complete all requirements of this programme will be eligible to apply to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority for the award of the National Diploma in Quantity Surveying (Level 6). 9.
