Wintec’s Certificate in Introduction to Study (Level 2 or 4) is a full-time 18 week programme that will prepare you for further tertiary study. You will develop an understanding of what is expected at tertiary level and be provided opportunities to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in tertiary education. There are three streams in this programme:

The Level 2 stream is for you if you wish to prepare for further study in certificate level programmes. The Level 4 stream is for you if you wish to move on to diploma or degree level study. The Level 4 health stream is for you if you wish to go on to further study in nursing, midwifery, sports science or health-related programmes.
PROGRAMME CONTENT You will study:
Personal and Professional Development (Level 2 and 4) Including learning styles, basic principles of learning, stress management, time management. Introduction to Maths and Science in Health (Health) Including functions of the healthy human body and mathematics skills pertaining to drug calculations. GRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES The Certificate in Introduction to Study (Level 2 or 4) may lead to further study at certificate, diploma and degree level. ENTRY CRITERIA Entry is open to students who have communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) at the level required to successfully undertake the programme. Writing Skills Including essay writing, assignment preparation, report writing, reflective journal writing, referencing in-text and compiling bibliographies. Communication Skills Including written and oral presentation skills, study skills and locating and organising information. Technology for Tertiary Study Including basic word processing, internet, online learning, PowerPoint, Publisher, and using technology to support study and assignment preparation.
