These regulations should be read in conjunction with Wintec’s Academic Regulations, Clause 2 General Programme Regulations. 1

Admission, Entry and Selection 1.1 Candidates are expected to have completed three years of secondary education and to have gained  a minimum of 16 credits at NCEA Level 1, 8 of which must be English and 8 credits must be in Mathematics, or equivalent; or  a qualification at Level 2 or higher in a related subject area 1.2 Candidates must demonstrate a reasonable likelihood of success. They may be required to complete a selection process which will include an interview and may include a Study Skills assessment 1.3 Candidates who do not meet the entry requirements may nevertheless be considered for provisional entry (if aged under 20.) or special admission (if aged 20 or over). In such cases entry will be dependent on whether candidates demonstrate a reasonable likelihood of success in the programme 1.4 Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) of 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in the written band. 1.5 To meet legal and health requirements, candidates must by physically able to carry out the practical components of the programmes.

Programme Requirements 3.1 Every candidate for the Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 3) programme shall to the satisfaction of the Academic Board follow a programme of study for a period of normally not less than two semesters. 3.2 Each candidate for the Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 3) must successfully complete all the modules listed in Section 7 totalling a minimum of 120 credits.

Completion of the Programme A candidate may take up to 2 years to complete this programme, but an extension may be granted by special permission of the Head of School/Centre Director.

Assessment Assessment in this programme is competency based therefore aegrotat consideration is not available.

6.1The Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 3) will be awarded to a candidate who has successfully completed the programme requirements as specified in clauses 3.1and 3.2 of these regulations. 6.2 Candidates successfully completing all modules in 7 Schedule of modules Group A and a minimum of 20 credits from Group B, with at least 10 credits at level 3, will be eligible for the award of the National Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) (Level 3) . 7 Schedule of modules Group A: All the below modules must be completed.
