* Students who successfully complete the requirements of this programme will be eligible for entry to the Certificate in Advanced English programme. These regulations should be read in conjunction with the Institute’s Academic Regulations, clause 2 General Programme Regulations. 1.
Admission, Entry and Selection 1.1. Candidates are required to possess upper-intermediate level competency in English, equivalent to the level of competency gained by graduates of the Waikato Institute of Technology’s Certificate in Upper-Intermediate English for Speakers of Other Languages. Similar programmes in other institutions may be considered equivalent, at the discretion of the Head of School or designated equivalent, or authorised nominee. 1.2. All applicants must undergo an interview and placement test to determine whether their English skills are at the requisite level and whether this is the appropriate programme for their needs.
Programme Requirements 2.1. Every candidate for the English for Living and Working in New Zealand programme shall to the satisfaction of the Academic Board follow a programme of study for a period of normally not less than 16 weeks. 2.2. Each candidate’s programme of study shall comprise the four compulsory modules listed in section 4, totalling 60 credits. 2.3. Each candidate must complete an approved work experience placement for module CC0L273 New Zealand Employment and the New Zealand Workplace in order to complete the programme. 2.4. Every candidate must also meet any attendance requirements set out in the individual module outlines.
Assessment Assessment in this programme is competency based, therefore, aegrotat consideration is not available.
