Effective Date: January 2012 These regulations should be read in conjunction with the Institute’s Academic Regulations, clause 2 General Programme Regulations and the relevant NZQA requirements. 1.

Admission and Entry 1.1.

There is open entry to this programme although students must demonstrate reasonable likelihood of success. Evidence of this may be required in the form of Communication and English standards /achievement standards at level 2 or above, or the demonstration of equivalent knowledge and skills.

1.2.

To meet legal and health requirements, candidates must be physically able to carry out the practical components of the programme.

1.3.

Candidates who have English as a second language will be required to have an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) of 5.5, with a minimum of 5.0 in the written band.

Programme Requirements 2.1. Every candidate for the Certificate in Building (Level 4) shall to the satisfaction of the Academic Board follow a programme of study for a period of normally not less than 33 weeks. 2.2. Each candidate’s programme of study shall comprise modules totalling a minimum of 120 credits which includes work experience. Candidates are required to:  complete all modules in Group A, and  a minimum of 94 credits from the Group B elective modules.

Completion of the Programme 3.1. Candidates may take up to two years to complete this programme unless an extension is granted by special permission of the Head of School/Centre Director . 3.2. For safety reasons students are required to attend class at the starting time as timetabled. Students who are late may be required to remain out of class until the first scheduled break.

4.

Assessment Assessment in this programme is competency based; therefore, aegrotat consideration is not available.
