Realtor® Nationwide Open House Weekend Kicks-Off Spring Home Buying Season

urchasing a home is one of the most important decisions in a person’s life and deciding on a particular house comes with many options. Forty-five percent of recent buyers used open houses as a way to narrow down their choices and find their dream home. Buyers in the Willamette Valley will have the opportunity to do just that on April 20 and 21 as Realtors® hold open houses all weekend long as part of the Realtor® Nationwide Open House Weekend. This event is a great way for buyers to get an idea of what they can afford and what kinds of homes are available in the local market. It’s also a chance for sellers to market their home and attract potential buyers. Buyers need to have a clear idea of what features are important to them and know where they are willing to compromise; that is where visiting open houses can be helpful. Also, working with a Realtor® can be a real asset. Realtors® visit hundreds of homes each year, and have a unique understanding of what buyers value in their local markets. Their expertise and knowledge can help you achieve the dream of homeownership. Realtors® will be available at open houses to answer questions about the home buying process and local market conditions.

irst impressions count more than ever; statistics show that having your home professionally staged can help you sell 50% faster and for a 6-10% higher selling price than if you don’t stage or try staging your home yourself. Your home is your greatest asset and largest investment. When it is time to sell your home it is important to create the best first impression possible. Only 1 out of every 10 people who view your home can visualize its potential. Home sellers need a competitive edge to make their home stand out.

What Is Home Staging? Home staging is the specialized art of enhancing a residential property by arranging furnishings and décor to highlight its best features. Staging minimizes a property’s weaknesses and clearly defines the living spaces, helping potential buyers imagine living in the home and motivating them to purchase. We literally “merchandise” your home, presenting a lifestyle to which potential buyers aspire by bringing out the unique personality of a home.

819 N Hwy 99W, McMinnville, OR 97128

HOME Staging

Isn’t Home Staging Expensive? Even a modest investment in professionally staging your home gives you a distinct advantage over the competition. Home staging and redesign services are quite reasonable compared to the increased sales price and quicker transaction time realized by Realtors and sellers. By utilizing home furnishings and accessories along with an interior designer’s expertise, staging is tailored to the unique style of each home, producing superior results.

LOCAL Treasures

McMinnville’s Hidden Gem:

The McMinnville Municipal Airport By Sarah Goad

n the outskirts of the town of McMinnville, beyond the wine tasting cellars, outside downtown, and past the air and space museums hides one of the towns most passed over gems. The McMinnville Municipal Airport (KMMV) is owned and operated by the city of McMinnville and overseen by Airport Manager Graham Goad. KMMV sets on 673 acres of land right off of Highway 18. It is home to local businesses, attracting tourists and business executives coming to enrich relationships or explore the surrounding communities. On any given day KMMV is bustling with activity. Whether its aircraft bringing in tourists and business executives or the day-to-day businesses going about their practice, KMMV brings about many assets to the community. Aircraft owners, pilots, eagerto-learn aviation enthusiasts or those who prefer to keep both feet on the ground can all have a chance to view McMinnville and Yamhill County from a whole new perspective. Local businesses at KMMV present many options for not only aircraft owners and pilots, but for the general public as well. It is truly one of the most unseen gateways to the city. The aviation industry is roaring out at the airport! The Lions Club of McMinnville hosts a yearly fly-in, drive-in breakfast and car show at KMMV bringing in aircraft owners as well as classic car enthusiasts from all around. This event comes complete with a helicopter competition. This years event being held on June 23, brings community members and out-of-towners to KMMV for a small-town family experience.

Aircraft owners should check out Northwest Air Repair, owned and operated by Graham Goad, for your repair and maintenance needs. In their newly built and much larger shop, Goad and veteran mechanic Jeff Snook are eager to assist fellow aviation enthusiasts with the care of their beloved aircraft. While you are there be sure to say hi to Graham’s dog and Northwest Air Repair’s resident mascot, Piper. Have you ever imagined yourself piloting your own plane? Ask Cirrus Aviation about their college level flight school operation. Cirrus also offers aircraft rental, fuel services and a place to relax after a long flight in the terminal building. Owner Robbie Sturm has worked at the McMinnville Airport for 23 years and was told that she couldn’t work at the airport if she couldn’t fly; a motto that she carries on today. At one point Cirrus Aviation was owned and operated by six women pilots, Sturm included. Sturm eventually bought the business and has dedicated herself to building it up. If helicopters are more your style, Konect Aviation and Jerry Trimble Helicopters also operate flight schools from KMMV. Jerry Trimble Helicopters can meet your service needs, as well as offering annual inspections of R-22 and R-44 helicopters. Konect Aviation offers its services to assist commercial businesses with various projects requiring aviation services. If taking the aircraft into your own hands sounds like a bit too much, there are still plenty of options to take in the beauty of these majestic beasts and the Yamhill County countryside. If you are looking for a fun and adventurous date or an exciting surprise for the family, you might consider taking a helicopter ride. Jerry Trimble Helicopters and Konect Aviation offer a variety of options from scenic photography flights, vineyard tours and even customized tours for a special occasion.

for your entire home

By Brittainy Tiffany Tiffany Home Design

t’s that time of year again! Spring flowers are in full bloom and the sunny skies are peaking through the raining days. Spring is here, which usually inspires spring cleaning. Spring cleaning can be therapeutic if you approach it with an open mind and invigorating mentality. You can start small or go with the gusto, but whatever your spring cleaning style is, your home will surely thank you as it can open up space and new opportunities. Cleaning the entire home will help you feel refreshed, rejuvenated and more comfortable in your own living space. Here are some tips to help you make the most out of spring-cleaning.

Refresh Your Colors

One of the easiest ways to spice up a boring space is to add more color. If you have all white walls, consider painting the room with a color that matches your mode. Based on the room and space, we recommend different colors. In the bedroom, you want more subtle mellow colors, like deep purples, blues and or dark greens. The colors inspired by nature will help you to fall asleep easily. In the living room, you can paint an accent wall- Emerald green, dark blue & yellow are the trending colors for 2013. By painting one wall, you provide a center focus with a splash of color that helps frame the space and add more life into your home. If you have a home office or study, stick to natural colors.

We recommend soft blues or even a grey or off white. The goal is to have a nice balance but not have any colors that are too bright or distracting. After all, if your work environment is too loud you may feel more compelled to not work. If painting your walls is too much to add to your to do list, you can simple refresh your space by adding more color with a nice bouquet of fresh spring flowers. Flowers add a lot of life to any space and can bring in warmth so you and your guests will feel more comfortable.

Reframe Your Photos

Chances are your picture frames have the same photos in them since you bought the frame 10 years ago. One of the easiest ways to refresh your space and give it a brand new look is to swap out the photos in your picture frames. Add current pictures and you will have an instantly upgraded space!

Rearrange the Space

Rearranging your furniture is a nice way to bring in a fresh balance to your living space. After you deep clean your home, move the furniture around to create a different look. The change will be good for your entire family. Who knows, you may even like the new arrangement more! Enjoy spring cleaning, setting up and refreshing your living space.
